I know it's easier said than done but don't stress about it! Ask your trainer for cheat sheets, look online for some or make your own and study them. You can also use the app to get the defaults for pumps/shots, etc. I've trained baristas who picked them up very quickly and others who had to work really hard to get them down. It all comes with practice and time and everybody is different. As long as you're making your best effort and asking for help when you need it, you'll be okay. For what it's worth, my green bean days literally involved me coming home and crying because I thought I would never remember it all. Now I have my own store and can make drinks in my sleep. That being said, there are still days where I go wtf is in that again?? You're human, be kind to yourself!

It’s a lot easier than one would think. Most of the drinks are the same recipe just different fonts if that makes sense. Like how lattes and cappuccinos are the same. One just has more foam. It personally took me about two weeks to fully memorize everything

Okay thank you so much. How long did you study every day?

Here’s a cheat sheet I made for my store! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Q-jMHABjTuHSavF5Pil2xO5KfwdrjFMn
And don’t worry everyone was new once!

Omg you’re the one who made that cheat sheet! I’ve shared it with so many people it’s amazing, it’s helped me so much!! Thank you!!

Your cheat sheet is amazing!! How did you create the images for the cups and shakers?? I would love to know how to do that - thanks

You’re a saint. I’m literally on my 5th day here and I feel like the only thing I’m good at is customer support. Also the POS system looks crazy.😭😭😭
not_Omega1 points2y ago
dude, POS is definitely crazy but trust me it'll click with time. I'm going on my second month and it started clicking like last week. Maybe take pictures of each screen and watch more experienced baristas navigate the screens, you'll pick up on the little shortcuts they might be doing.

It’s my second week here and today I came in and they wanted me on drive thru POS and wanted me to grab my own food and stuff and I’m like bruuuu 😫😫 and everyone trying to tell me stuff while I’m trying to take orders so I keep messing things up and then they tried to make me solo it. 😭😭Finally the took me off and just let me handle the window.😭😭😭
not_Omega1 points2y ago
Bruh, that's way too much lol Did the person on window at least type your orders when you were away getting food ? As good as it is to just have a trial by fire, they should remember that you're new and need more time before you're just told to multi-task

I use this https://imgur.com/gallery/AytYzus !! I’ve been working at Starbucks for about two months now and I’m starting to get a bit more comfortable on bar. Also the easiest way to check something if you’re unsure is to check the register!! It will tell you how to make almost every drink, how many shots/pumps/which syrup etc!
seouoia [OP]2 points2y ago
Thank you so much. I’ll definitely use the website to study. I completely forgot i can check the register too! Thank u for that as wel

Study your recipe cards, ask to be put on bar when it's not busy, ask your partners and SSV to quiz you on drink ingredients and processes. Also: remember that speed comes with time, so don't stress too much. As others have said, everyone was new once!

Thank u. i’m making recipe cards to study off of too:)
