Does calling out in your last two weeks prevent you from being rehired? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by subaruforesters
I put in my two weeks about a week ago because I'm moving to a different job, but I fully intend to work through the rest of my shifts. This morning though I woke up experiencing a chronic illness flare up, and I was just way too dizzy and nauseous to safely drive or perform at work.

After I called out my manager told me that I shouldn't call out after putting in my two weeks, because if I ever want to apply to Starbucks again, they'll see that I did and it looks bad. It kind of upset me because I felt like she didn't believe that I was sick, and I would potentially like to work at Starbucks again and now I'm worried I won't be able to. Does anyone know if that's actually true?

I’m a store manager, and they aren’t telling you the full truth. When we separate a partner from the store (whether voluntary or not) it is required to select the recommendation for rehire eligibility. Underneath there is a section for comments. Everything entered is fully at the SMs discretion (unfortunately).

If I go to rehire a former partner, I’m required to call PRSC to hear the rehire recommendation, but it really is just a recommendation and not something I *have* to follow (unless they had like... a severe infraction or something.) I have no access to whether or not that partner called out for being sick during their last two weeks unless the SM chose for me to have that information. I don’t see why they would include that unless you called out to *every* shift during that period.

I’m sorry they tried to coerce you to come in today, but I think they were just using a scare tactic. I hope you’re able to relax and feel a bit better ❤️
