Scheduled outside my availability and reprimanded for not coming in, even though SM can't technically write me up for it(self.starbucksbaristas)

So my SM as well as the other night SSV went on vacation at the same time, so I was scheduled to work that Saturday, which I am unavailable for because that is my 1 day a week to spend with my partner and my child. I did my due diligence and tried to find coverage, even though it technically wasn't my problem since it was outside my availability anyway. Friday comes and I tell my ASM I will NOT be coming in on Saturday and he understands. But then he turns around and tells my SM that I "wasn't clear in my communication and he assumed I would still come in for the shift." Fast forward to now when SM is back from vacation and she dragged me and made me feel like shit for not coming in and told me that I had ample time to find coverage, or find a babysitter so I could work. And then says she isn't going to write me up because it was out of my availability and so I didn't technically have to come in, but she still wanted me to know how wrong it was of me.

Negative... it’s outside your availability... she shouldn’t even be able to put you in that time slot

She would have had to override the system to move me into the slot I've watched my old SM make schedules before and if she attempted to schedule outside availability, a pop-up comes up that informs you of that.

Which means you weren’t responsible for the shift

You don't have to override anything. Not for the last 2 years in canada, longer in the states

If this was AITA I'd say NTA. It's one thing to ask you to cover a shift outside your normal availability, but another to schedule you because they feel you should be able to even considering your availability or lack thereof. I'm sorry that your manager felt the need to disrespect you and I hope something can be done about it!

They can get over themselves. They knew your availability and tried to strong arm you into working, when that didn’t work they tried to turn the blame onto you, when that didn’t work they tried to make you feel guilty. I’d take it to the DM if they continue to give you trouble over it. Never let a manager try to mess with you’re availability because they get away with it once and they never stop.
