New partner rant thing (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I’m relatively new. Like a month on and so far I’m doing not half bad. Getting everything down in my head, still the occasional mix up on a complicated drink or during peak but nothing terrible.
My only problem. And this is totally on me. But I’m just the worst at frappes even though there’s literally a step by step guide particularly when it’s busy my brain just does not want to function properly and it’s very aggravating!
And second I love the people I work with but like. If I’m on window/register and I don’t see something right away even though it’s right in front of my face would it be too much to ask that ya point it out to me so I have a decent idea where the thing is instead of nudging me aside and typing it in and moving on? I get the need for efficiency but it’s not helping me here?

First, almost no one knows how to make fraps properly. Some baristas do but its pretty rare because there are so many. Most people get them “just right enough” that a customer is content. The secret with fraps is we only have like 8 or so and every other one is just a modification of one of those 8. For example Java chip is a core frap. Take coffee away and you have a dcc frap. Add whip and oreo toping to top and bottom you get a mocha cookie crumble, take away the coffee you get chocolate cookie crumble. Vanilla bean is a core, add coffee you get a cafe vanilla. Remembering simple rules like Java chips = 100% gets mocha drizzle is good to note too. Fraps just take time to learn properly and if they aren’t addressed in training properly that makes it difficult.

Next in terms of helping you on reg, during busy times don’t expect to be trained, its just not an optimal time. Instead ask for help later after the rush. Most likely that person will be more than willing to help you learn what you didnt know/where something was, but peak is a terrible time tbh.
