Promotion advice ? I think my SM is trying to get rid of me :/(self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm going for ASM relatively soon. My DM, and other SMs, have been working together closely to work towards my promotion since my SM is fairly new and we don't get along great. Yesterday my SM pulled me aside out of the blue to say that I should move to a different store (worst store in our district) and that I need to do so in order to become an ASM. I'm just conflicted, I feel like they're just trying to get rid of me but they've been pressuring me to go and keep stressing how it's a great opportunity for me. Any advice?

A second store experience is always good for development. You may see it as the worst store in the district but they might see it as an opportunity. You can go in there and show them what you can do to turn it around. People rarely move up to ASM in the same store, it’s very uncommon.

They’re trying to send you there to see how you can make it better. Sure you’re doing great at your store but how can you help an underperforming store? They want to see leadership skills in a new area for you. I would 100% say do it.

Of course!! I’m developing right now and I was sent to an underperforming store for a month to help them out and it gave me some really valuable information!

I think moving to a different store is actually part of your development, especially if it is a struggling store. They will be looking at you to help turn it around with coaching and action plans. I think it’s great! I’m on ASM track for what it’s worth.
