Insurance for Pregnancy (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LKP95
What is the best medical insurance company to go with for pregnancy doctor visits and all other visits you have to do for pregnancy? I'm thinking about pregnancy soon and I understand that the whole 9 months can get expensive if someone doesn't have the right insurance coverage. I'm sorry If this is too vague but pregnancy is a new idea to me anyway. Lol.

The company matters less than the policy itself.

Giving birth is expensive, so you want a plan where you can afford the out of pocket maximum - that’s the most you’ll have to pay no matter what. As far as the company goes, the main thing to look at is what doctors and hospitals take the insurance carrier you have, so you’re not limited to a crappy OB to deliver your baby

It all depends on what you can afford. I am silver and pay $147 a pay check for the kiddos and I from blue cross. The doctor visits and blood work was free and included in my plan but paid $50 a pop for ultrasounds. Had to have a c section because my children are always breach. A c section and three night stay because baby had a minor issue was a bill of $4700 which I got on payment plan with the hospital plan. I pay the hospital $135 for x amount of years. My coworker had the highest level and pays $535 a paycheck for her, kiddos, and spouse. Her entire pregnancy experience with appointments was free and her csection, blood transfusion, and one week hospital stay ran her $236. She had actual complications while I just had a breached baby.
So it really just depends on what you can afford per paycheck.

I have kaiser through sbux (California) I ended up having to get medical bc the out of pocket expenses were way too crazy. Definitely check the coverage on each and what percentage you would be paying for. I had to pay 30% for lab work and my delivery which was still $200+ each time due to them always taking blood
