Trick for super dry, beat up hands (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ExtraterrestrialPoe
My DM recently gave me a trick for dry skin from all of the soap/sanitizer/cleaning chemicals that destroy my hands to the point of my skin splitting open like really deep paper or cardboard cuts when she noticed my stash of superglue (I hate bandaids)!

MY DUDES. CHEAP CHAPSTICK.

Obviously lotion all the time but there’s only so much it can do when you work 40+ hours and like to deep clean, cause good hand lotion is expensive y’all. I started using chapstick on the really bad spots before bed or when I’m not working and oh my god, so much better. They won’t ever be baby soft but now they’re not super painful and falling apart!

I took the advice of other baristas on here and used O’keefe’s working hands lotion. Worked like a charm.

Can confirm this. I used regular ole' body lotion during the winter, which helped for the day-to-day. Spring arrived and somehow my hands got WORSE. Finally tried out O'Keefe's Working Hands hand cream. My hands are alive again and it took less than a week.

Cocoa butter. It's scented so it's "technically" a no go for the Siren but at this point, everyone is tired of bleeding hands.

One of my coworkers took coffee ground and she rubbed it in my hands then washed it off. I don't think my hands have ever felt more soft before

If you live near a dollar tree they sell this cute little bottle of cow printed lotion called Utterly Smooth and its saved my hands for years. For only $1!

That’s awesome!!! I’ve been buying them for full price on Amazon! Granted it’s only $7 for two but STILL

i use aquaphor, it's what i used for my tattoos when they heal and they can come in jars, tubes, even little chapstick sized tubes so really great for ease and convenience !!

Oh I’ve tried a million lotions, oil, exfoliating, everything. Nothing has kept them from getting gnarly and cracking lol

Codi brand lotion is really good too.

I’ll have to try it!
