Good point!
Kyde_Drakes 92 points 2y ago
I’m scheduled 48 hours this next week 😂😭 Heavens knows I’m going to end up doing 50
0ejp1 100 points 2y ago
SCHEDULED for 48?! my store doesn’t schedule above 39 and that’s for the shifts! the rest of us are like 35 max
MonstrousGiggling 44 points 2y ago
Our hours average around 20 to 25 for most people. Its kinda horrible.
Kyde_Drakes 28 points 2y ago
We’re extremely short staffed, plus I have to help another store who fired a shift lead. So 6 days at 8 hours each day, and possibly the same thing the next week.
MonstrousGiggling 33 points 2y ago
Oooof.

Idk about you but that much time at Sbux for me is soul draining. Please find time for yourself for some self care ♡ you'll have definitely earned it!
michaela6514 2 points 2y ago
Same. I'm four months out knee surgery and I'm supposed to be working 25 hours max a week and I got scheduled 39 this week -_-
Competencies 9 points 2y ago
Yeah I also noticed that it’s not quite full time though so none of those benefits. I remember picking up lots of extra hours and covering people and getting 50 hours one week just to be scheduled 2 the next so I couldn’t get benefits.
C0ffeeCoffeeC0ffee 14 points 2y ago
Maybe it has changed? Now you only need to work about 20 hours a week to get benefits
cadmus1890 7 points 2y ago
That's not at all how Starbucks measures benefits eligibility. It's a rolling count, then a twice-yearly count once enrolled (or declined). Iirc, they even lowered the threshold during Covid. Not saying they're perfect benefits, but nobody is changing your schedule to rob you of insurance.

I like when my store refuses to schedule the people who want more hours but over schedules the people who don’t want more hours and disregards their availability
coffeeandcamels 19 points 2y ago
Do you work at my store? I have more hours than some of the shifts and everyone else complains about lack of hours 🥲
dumbblondie 11 points 2y ago
Literally this. We have people at my store who have been here for years and want more hours, then my SM hires like 3 new people and gives them each 20 hours and the old partners who want hours get 5 hours.
TheDoubleDan 2 points 2y ago
When my store reopened after the pandemic I told my SM to not schedule me for hours if other partners needed them. Starbucks is just my side hustle so I was still making full paychecks from my office job and I knew there were others that could use the money. So I think that whole month I worked a total of 8 hours.

I see a lot of posts here about shitty SMs and I'm glad I can't relate to those posts.

I’m at a point where I work so much they don’t ask to extend/pick up a shift bc I’ll do overtime. It’s nice bc I know what to expect but I’m also getting home at 1am bc I’m always closing. Not a complaint, I love watching ppl tug at the door when our lobby is closed and pulling into the DT after that’s closed too. It’s great.
HamiltonPolka 42 points 2y ago
It’s ridiculous how much I enjoyed making eye contact with people that tugged on the locked door after we closed
strangeyeena 22 points 2y ago
Sorry not sorry. Muahahahahahahhahaha. No 10:59PM Frappuccino for yoooou.
lilcox1419 1 points 2y ago
11:59 for us. Apparently we’re one of the few stores in my area that’s open until midnight.
xMoon_Faeryx 5 points 2y ago
We're closing at 6pm because of staffing issues (we have 7 partners in their 1st/2nd month right now) and I'm the main closer now. It's sooooo much fun. I love getting to tell people that we're closed. I will literally go stand in our drive thru because people can't read 🤣
lilcox1419 2 points 2y ago
*GOOD*
coffeebartenderr 26 points 2y ago
Scheduled: 10 hours
Punched: 36 hours
King_Spamula 16 points 2y ago
That's what happened to me when I worked at Pizza Hut. They scheduled me nine hours a week and called me in every day randomly. I didn't like not being payed to basically be on-call.
ronnie24w 16 points 2y ago
every.... single... week ....
Pheebers713 15 points 2y ago
Man I miss being able to just work all I want. I used to accumulate so much overtime that our DM would have a heart attack and force my manager to give the shifts I would pick up away. At one point I had picked up so many shifts that I was set to work a 60hr week one week then a 50hr week the next. Our DM literally had a meeting with the managers in my district about offering more help to other stores with coverage bc one person (me) shouldn’t be the only one picking them all up. By the end of that day they took all my accumulated hours and I worked 2 39hr weeks in a row and my manager made sure I was out on time each day😂
Millerboycls09 7 points 2y ago
If you aren't approved for overtime, it makes sense that you weren't allowed to take over 40. Especially when there are other people in district who want hours.
Pheebers713 2 points 2y ago
Overtime was approved bc the shifts I took were for a store which recently had three people either quit or be fired. The DM just didn’t expect one person to take as many shifts as I did. My manager is very good about making notes for us telling us that other stores need coverage and have open shifts. Many of the other managers in my district at the time were not lol.
Millerboycls09 4 points 2y ago
Then that is horseshit and you should have been able to cash in on that.
Pheebers713 2 points 2y ago
It was holiday time so they’re already stingy about handing out overtime, I think it was because my dm was hoping only like one or two people would go into overtime from the picked up shifts not one person accumulating 30 hours of overtime lol
LegendBourbaki 13 points 2y ago
I get scheduled 30-35 but I always get around 40-45
pettyanon12 10 points 2y ago
Tbh I love doing OT and DT. I’m only 5 mins away from my store and I’m kinda the most reliable. At one point I did 60 hours in one week. We have a lot of call outs. Ppl be throwing shade but they’re the same ones who constantly call out or ask me to cover a shift /:. I transferred to my current store before I was getting less than 16 hours because my SM dislikes me
4filth 10 points 2y ago
@ my SM
desolateinfidel 7 points 2y ago
When almost every partner at your store is begging for hours yet your manager keeps hiring more people on 😐
XxTRUEPINOYxX 4 points 2y ago
I had a open availability and I haven’t been offered once to stay late or come in early atm. It’s whatever tbh lol I guess they like to suffer than offer me some hours 😂
neeto 4 points 2y ago
Me all month 😑
okeekee 3 points 2y ago
I feel your pain I was scheduled for 31 hours last week and ended up punching a bit over 50 hours 😢
Kritter82 3 points 2y ago
I haven’t been at Starbucks since before Covid, but when I was a shift, I was usually scheduled 28 but worked 35-40 cuz one of our shifts always called out. Once I requested off a whole weekend for my birthday and ended up working 2/3 of the days
sitad3le 2 points 2y ago
As a former SM. This happened.

All. The. Time.

My bux was a couple of years old and having exponentially growth.
RareGull 2 points 2y ago
Damn. The only time I get more than 22 hours is if I’m training someone that week. I never thought I’d say this working in food service, but we are over staffed at my store.
Reddit-user-256 2 points 2y ago
Yet, whenever you work in a restaurant they bitch about you always almost hitting overtime or hitting it... but always call you in because they need your help
Kalhm 1 points 2y ago
I work in a kiosk in a mall and we get 35-40 hours every week. That’s not counting the weeks we lose people 😃
randomhoe999 1 points 2y ago
I like this bc I can make my own hours kinda Pick and choose what shifts I want to pick up
guachummus 1 points 2y ago
One time I ended up hitting 70 hours after being scheduled 37 lmao
twilights_heiress 1 points 2y ago
Oh my god I felt this. Scheduled for 31 this past week and hit 42.5 last night, I’m scheduled for training all this week for 32 hours but my shift is out today so I’m coming in early for coverage so let’s see how that goes
