people who spell their name for you when you’re taking their order have a special place in my heart(i.redd.it)

Meanwhile at my store:
“Did you want that hot or iced?”
“For Pam. That’s P-A-M”
“Ok but did you want that hot or iced?”
“No that’s all thanks!”
*facepalm*

i sound weird asf when i say “hot or iced” bc people really CANT hear. i go “HAAAWWTT OORRR EYECD?”🐥
olivinemultichrome30 points2y ago
Even if I’m literally holding up the hot and iced cups they just look at both and go “yeah that’s good thanks” like.... make a freaking decision
butlikeactuallybro [OP]29 points2y ago
exactly. i’ve literally been cussed out for asking whether the customer wanted their drink (it was a caramel macchiato) hot or iced.. and for what?

the most annoying thing is when someone orders a small drink and you instinctively say “a tall [drink]” and they go “no i said a small”. like girl i onow it’s confusing pls
coffeecatmom13 points2y ago
THIS WAS THE FIRST NAME I WAS GONNA CALL OUT. I was about to be like yeah except when they say “PAM, P-A-M” like thank you, I’m not that dumb.
misswallflowerr3 points2y ago
id make it "cam" just for the hell of it lol
flavioTOBR9 points2y ago
So the way that we usually did at my store was just to assume that it was hot unless specified it was iced. It saved us a lot of time.
olivinemultichrome24 points2y ago
Our store is half tourists who want iced and half old people who want hot so it’s basically a 50/50 guess
flavioTOBR2 points2y ago
Lmao 💀
butlikeactuallybro [OP]13 points2y ago
we did this for a while, but just wasted time because people switched it up and with covid, it’s like giving away a free drink because we can’t take it back.
D735486 points2y ago
Yeah we assume its hot but majority of the time its "i said iced" and then it has to be remade and that gets annoying.

I started saying, “it’s a hot one right ?” Jo 🙋🏽♂️🦎🔮🍑🧆 1. If it is hot they go yes. 2. If it’s iced they go actually I’ll have it ices

The most ironic part for me is that I used to work at starbucks in a mostly white neighborhood and being a foreigner myself I’d never know how to spell simple white ppls names lmao they would get so mad
_hipster_dog_8 points2y ago
I'm a white person from a mostly white neighborhood and I don't even know how to spell most white names lol
gabbysafari33 points2y ago
my favorite is when white people with basic names spell it out for you 😅 like thanks, i definitely didn’t know how to spell “tom” before this!
cswtf14 points2y ago
That’s thom to you
gabbysafari10 points2y ago
maybe it could be “tahm” 🤔
misswallflowerr1 points2y ago

BoysLock1 points2y ago

G37_is_numberletter24 points2y ago

ZacW949 points2y ago

ntsrhcyj1 points2y ago

misswallflowerr2 points2y ago

Assiqtaq11 points2y ago
I have to spell my name or be accepting of it being not being spelled correctly. So yeah, either way is fine, just depends on how I feel that day.
FfierceLaw11 points2y ago
I get several “Jay”s I appreciate that
sleepyteaa10 points2y ago
The only people that spell their name in my experience are the ones that are super easy lmao: Sam, Paul, Mike, etc
realdognoway7 points2y ago
Can’t wait to meet Conchobar McGregor!
Astraterris5 points2y ago
I don’t ask for their name, I just say can you spell your name for me please
butlikeactuallybro [OP]7 points2y ago
a true intellectual
misswallflowerr3 points2y ago
i purposefully spell names wrong when they spell it out for me. it slightly irritates them but they get their coffee, so whats so wrong about the misspelled name? i make it as close to their name without any of the correct vowels/ make it look weird. (josh: jawsh, cody: koadie, elizebeth: alyzabith, amanda: uhmanduh, etc... )
butlikeactuallybro [OP]2 points2y ago
i will be doing this now
CasualVictim3 points2y ago
I don't even bother using my real name. I have a Starbucks name to make it easier.

kizzythaboss1 points2y ago
My name is Kia. Guess how many times it's either spelled wrong or pronounced wrong. 😭
vbsp131 points2y ago
My coffee name is Oprah bc for some reason when I say Shanon people hear Janet???
Ohana_Coffee1 points2y ago
For an order I typed in brya instead of Bryan for trying to type fast while I was training, the guy didn’t get mad at me he told me that he use to work at Starbucks and understands my situation.
