Not when it’s justified ! We’re explicitly trained to not ice nitro because it ruins the texture of the coffee, they shouldn’t have iced it for you. There’s nothing wrong with saying “oh I didn’t want ice in my nitro, can I grab one without it?”
To be sure this doesn’t happen again, you can clarify at the counter when you order although you shouldn’t have to. When people tell me they want a customization on a drink that already has it (like no ice on an ice-free drink), i punch it into the order anyway because I take it that someone has made it wrong in the past before and it serves as an extra reminder to those on bar !

I wouldn’t return it if you drank the iced one already. You should just immediately return in when you get the wrong drink at handoff.

> I had to get to work? For the purpose of getting a proper one this time even though I drank the iced one?
Depends on how done with customers we are when you come in. Most likely I would just make it for you. Nitro is super easy, so doesn't really kill the flow.
Had a customer yesterday come back without the drink, tell me her husband ordered it and he ordered it wrong so please make a new one. Oh and please wash out my babies dirty bottle with boiling water, oh and fill it with milk.
Just kind of stared at her for a moment, I made the drink, and gave her a venti cup of boiling water, she can wash her own dishes.

If you don't have time to go back you could call the store about it.

Please ask for a remake for no ice! I’ve gotten ice in a nitro before and would’ve asked for a remake if I hadn’t noticed so late (just grabbed the cup & didn’t pay attention till I got home). And I’m a partner.
We want you to enjoy your drink how you order it AND to the drink standard, and the standard recipe is NO ICE.

Ice ruins the nitro so you would of been in the right asking for a remake. It was probably an honest mistake on the barista’s side. They probably had done a bunch of cold brews in a row and just had ice on the brain.
After they handed it out they probably realized like an hour later.

I hate when I realize I messed something up after handing it off, it’s such a bad feeling.

I think best way is to talk with the shift or someone in store directly (drop by or call in). Usually we would be happy to make the drinks again again without charge. Especially when it was not the right drink.
Sometimes it happens when store is busy and in a rush, they didn’t read the drink sticker all the way. But just don’t be a harsh customer 🥺
I had a lady emailed straight to the corp before when I forgot to put caramel in her salted caramel cold brew. It was my second day on the cold bar that time.
Sorry it gave you bad experience and glad they remade it for you.
