Just curious to see what other stores do.. Do you call them rags? Or towels? (This was once a debate) How many do you keep in one sanitizer bucket? Do you rinse/squeeze the rag before putting back in the sanitizer bucket? Again.. just curious. Not looking for standards are who is right and wrong.

everyone at my store calls em rags and i call them towels purely because my job prior to sbux was at a restaurant older folks tended to go to so we were trained to say towels to avoid offending any old ladies (?) i do 3 whenever i’m cs and i always squeeze them out :)

The standard amount of rags/cloths in the bucket is supposed to be limited to 2 (according to the 3 managers I’ve asked about it over the time I’ve worked at Starbucks)
The reason is because you only get a limited amount of cloths in bags per month or something like that so it’s best not to take them for granted

we call them bar mops most times or sometimes sani rag and we usually have 3 or 4. i think we all wring them out before putting them back and change the bucket pretty often because we have two so its easy to swap

I actually have always wondered what the standard is on this, because everyone at my store just puts one rag per sani bucket but I feel like that gets way too dirty too fast?

Me too! Lol. At some points people keep grabbing dry rags from the back and adding them in so we end up with like 6 in there. It grosses me out. All i know is that the sani has to be changed every hour to keep concentration levels.

At the stores I've worked at they're called "rags" lol whenever I'm CS I always put 2. (One for CS and One for bar person). However at the store I'm currently working at everyone seems to be allergic to the sanitizer solution so I'm currently the only one that uses it 😅
I personally always squeeze out any excess water before and after use

Make sure the temperature of the sanitizer water is correct. If it's too warm it can cause irritation. I can use the sani water when it's cool but if the water is warm my skin gets itchy and irritated. Maybe ur already using the right temp and everyone rlly is allergic to it lol, but I just wanted to share just in case bc a lot of ppl at my store didn't know that and would always use warm water until I told them not to.
