What was your reason for quitting Starbucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Mine was the customers, managers and the fact they made numerous people work while they were very sick in a pandemic.

Transphobic comments from my boss about a customer and passing out on shift

I tried so hard to like the job. And making drinks was fun and all but just the atmosphere, I just didn’t feel comfortable and certain standards that we have to meet as if we worked a corporate job. It wasn’t worth it for me. I only stayed for a month lol

The SM was a garbage fire, the customers were getting more and more entitled, and my mental health was slipping at an alarming rate. I currently work for a company that customers spend much more money with, but are way more chill.

Starbucks customers I swear are a different breed 😭

I have been burnt, sworn at, had to dodge a cup of tea, screamed at, told that I was the worst barista for saying that I could not make something that was on tiktok... I had it. Seriously, the corporation makes it so easy for people to mistreat their baristas. I still have panic moments when people begin to get heated at the job I'm in now, even though it's okay to tell them that if they won't stop yelling, I won't work with them. I spent so much time "making the moment right" that I just bend over and take it.

My store hired 6-8 people and out of that number about half of those people quit. A new girl literally had a panic attack and management didn’t do anything but was like ‘idk what you want from me’

This is one of the reasons I quit too. It was just the worst job I’ve ever had. The training was horrible too, after about a couple weeks I still didn’t know how to make basic drinks. There’s a reason why they offer free therapy and meditation apps 😭

Other partners being threatened that they couldn’t leave or transfer.

Understaffing and unrealistic expectations from SM and Starbucks in general. Our SM is EXTREMELY hypocritical. She will constantly micro manage every tiny little thing while also not having a working thermometer in the store for almost 4 months. She also was staffing our store way under the amount of hours she was given which at this point is just funny now that so many people are leaving that it completely backfired... I just saw an indeed posting the other day looking for 5-10 new hires. Anyways this is my last week and i’m just happy that I gave her my complete, honest and maybe brutal feedback when I put in my two weeks. I have faith that leaving will lead me to bigger and better job opportunities and you should to!!! We ALL deserve better for how hard we work. For each of us, there are plenty of jobs out there with equal pay and benefits .. but Starbucks just would not exist without us. 🤷‍♀️

i left mainly due to bitchy coworkers and constantly crying in the bathroom due to a lot stress. i also started a not so healthy relationship with a coworker and it severely messed with my mental health. when i put my two weeks in most of my shifts slightly turned against me which really sucked. this includes one of them slightly cornering me and repeatedly asking why i’m leaving and to switch night shift if i hate working there. i honestly don’t feel bad my old manger would constantly hire new people. literally the day i put my two weeks in he hired two different people after just one meeting. the thing is we were always short staffed no matter what day. i was constantly put on front with no help on weekend mornings and by my first 10 i was already crying in the bathroom because of all the stress and yelling from my manger or shifts for not working fast enough:(

I left because they worked me to the bone. They wouldn’t accommodate my disability and scheduled me during unavailable hours. My SM had no interpersonal skills and yelled at us as much as the customers. Toxic atmosphere, nothing ever done about workplace harassment, unsafe conditions. So. Much. Drama.
