Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

You tell me how I'm supposed to have a drive time of under 50s when people order 8 packs of eggs at the drive. Even 1 takes 90s... What do you want from me starbucks? To freeze time in the drive and speed up time at the ovens?? I am not GOD (i.redd.it)

This is a big issue I have. And pulling the person forward ISNT helpful if the people behind also have food.

I had a mobile come through recently for 1 of each sandwich and egg bite. I almost cried trying to get it all done and finally just batched them when we’d get a drive thru one- But that cost us on the drive times. There’s no winning. Thankfully, we did ok on the overall time, but it was really tough for a good half hour.

I'm so glad its not just us haha

We have someone outside on the iPad thing who literally will not let them advance until warming is ready for them since food takes the longest. Headsets are set to always on so everyone can hear the order. Person outside repeats everyrhingn the customer wants so they start making it right away. We have 15-25 second window times on average each week since we have gotten the tablet.

We have iPads at my store, but do you have some way of punching orders through them? Do you mean that they order to barista with the ipad instead of through the mic, so that the drive time doesn't start until they advance?

Yeah. So the outside person with the iPad has a mic that is always on. Customer rolls up. Customer says egg white bites and grande hot latte. Outside repeats that order so people inside start making it. Outside person talks with them to hold them in place as long as possible so that the order can be completed then send them through. No one orders at the speaker box anymore for this reason

So... the drive times they want might be impossible unless we do something like this at my store. Its a new store with almost all new hires and were doing pretty well (in the 70s-80s) but it seems we never reach "our goal" the way we're going. I'm gonna have to look into that iPad feature we don't have.

My stores so freaking small because it wasn't built to have a DT so we have one oven by drive and the other on the other side of the store. I almost busted my tailbone trying to run between the ovens when I slipped on ice.

It’s crazy how people choose drive thru for these orders. I work at a cafe only location & we don’t often have orders like that.

Working at a drive through Starbucks sounds so stressful.

I've worked in drive thru for other jobs and its the same thing, but the pushed drive times of 50s is ridiculous. You can't have us make fancy drinks without batching, make customer connections, and pass people through that quickly while constantly understaffed. Drive thru can be fun, when its done properly. This ain't it

At least 3 sets in each oven on the new extra crispy setting. For sandwiches, see which have similar cook times and double or triple up. New ovens are amazing

But your mobiles can hand off in seconds. You can also make every drink in drive by the time those eggs are done😁
mrbubblegxm 21 points 2y ago
ah yes. you can make a plethora of varying drinks assuming caramel macchiatos, a few lattes, and the five frap’s in a minute. go somewhere else stinky <3

I don't have mobiles here:( I had her pull into the parking and we passed everyone behind her, I'm just frustrated with drive times being pushed so hard haha
