Somewhere on the hub you'll find a document that says 6 months. It's really more as a courtesy to the store that hired you so that they don't just invest the time and money to train you only to see you go somewhere else. But there's nothing in principle stopping you from asking for a transfer right now.
It would be good to check if a store closer to you has an opening for you, or if maybe someone at one of those stores would be open to a permanent swap with you.

Have you asked at the store you’re interested in if they need partners?
I’d sus out the new store before you make any waves at your current store. Just go in and ask a few questions so whoever is competent.
When you put it in terms of gas money I think it’s okay to tell your manager that it’s not realistic for you to be spending so much time and money on transportation. However keep in mind that hiring new people is a pain in the ass. So is training new people. Part of your training is a chance for you to get used to your new store.
Unless the store you’re interested in is currently in the process or will soon be in the process of hiring people I don’t think they’re very likely to want you. Nothing against you personally, but you’re new and don’t really know how to do anything.

I transffered 3 months after I got hired when I first started~ generally when transferring you'd wanna give 60-90days noticed. So that way during that process the SM can help look for another store in case the one you want to transfer too doesn't work out.
It heavily depends on the staffing of the store and since you said other baristas left prior to you getting there, that might be a small issue. The sooner the notice the fast you can get out in all honesty. I just transferred stores and it took two months and in that process it was just trying to find a store closed to home for me.
