Be sure to groom the milk once you’ve finished steaming it. Tapping the pitcher on the counter a few times to burst bubbles and swirling the milk can do wonders for the pour and quality of this drink.
Also, I pull my shots into the cup on an angle so that the stream hits the side of the cup and slides down. That reduces the bubbles created by the espresso.
Lastly a slow controlled pour.
Your attempt is super close, but it isn’t just the dot in the middle that makes it a flat white. Having a smooth, even “flat” surface is key.
