Waiving Self quarantine period + asking for more hours? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by b0rrowers
So on Sunday, I was feeling quite bad with a cold. I had worked the day before with it, managing to ignore it but this shift was going to be 2 hours more and the symptoms got worse. So I did the virtual coach and it told me to self quarantine for 10 days. It was my first sick day after only having worked here for about 3 weeks. No problems with it really becau I callin in like 9 hours before my shift even started but I did find it weird that *I* had to call around for coverage. So I ended up getting a covid test and negative results within 4 days, which wasn't required but I wanted to be cautious. And by then my symptoms had gone so I told my store manager but she said I was scheduled to return after the 10 day period ... This really threw a wrench in my plans and now my check for this pay period will be ASTRONOMICALLY low 😟😟 I was under the impression that once my symptoms lifted and I had a covid test I could go back?? Not only that but I was only scheduled for 13 fricken hours this week when I asked to for up to 25 when getting hired. Now I can't return to work until Thursday but I need to. How can I ask my manager to schedule me/ how can I ask for more hours?

This really sucks and seems unfair to me... my only suggestion would be to call other stores in the area to ask if they had any shifts you could pick up, or if they're in close vicinity you could stop by and leave your number for the partners there to call you if they need shifts covered.

It's hard to find coverage last minute but call outs happen so frequently that we end up being down a partner so often, so by offering to take shifts you can get a chance to be that coverage the store needed.
