Idk, I felt that it had its disadvantages and advantages but I also started a few years before the ticket printers were finally brought in. There is a big advantage to it when the printers break down or have issues, and that happened in my store repeatedly for about 2 or 3 months and I was the only one who could write the cups, so I got stuck on reg a lot more.
Partners kept forgetting to read the codes in the boxes of the drinks they were ringing and then just guessing what the ID was or even writing out full words for custom like "no strawberries" instead of "~~strawberries~~" and with thick tip sharpies it was sometimes hard to read ☹
But when I started to work for Starbucks, writing on cups kinda forced me to write quicker and neater instead of just scribbling 😂
If only partners were still taught how to do it, since it comes in handy if the ticket paper gets jammed and there's a bunch of drinks that couldn't print out.
