Putting my 2 weeks notice today... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PonyAgony
I started working in Starbucks a few months ago and just a week after I got hired, my SM got fired or he quit (honestly idk). He left cold turkey but before that, he actually cleaned house and fired everybody. So when I got hired, everyone else was new as well. None of us knew what to do, I personally have a lot of restaurant and barista experience so I quickly learn everything...

A month went by, here we are, just a few kids and me, working out asses off and doing the best we can. Another SM used to come to our store once a week to see how everything is going and guess what, I got promoted to shift. They were paying me 3$ less than the national average, and I can’t get tips, so our lead baristas were actually doing more money than me...

Eventually we got a new SM and she’s a complete bitch, she always go home early, she sits in the office while we’re being slammed and understaffed, so it’s like 2 or 3 of us in the floor while she sips her coffee in the back talking in the phone all day.

She’s always making fun of me for random reasons and she keeps criticizing me. Not in a constructive way but humiliating me, she does that in front of everybody and also customers.

I used to LOVE this job, LOOOOVE IT. But now I just want to walk out and never come back... so today I’m putting my big girl pants and putting my *maybe* 2 weeks notice, I’m proud of myself.

Oh and of course, I already got offered another job that pays me a lot more and it’s 8 am to 5 pm weekends off :).

Ps. Everybody else also quit, nobody can put up with this new SM, That’s why we’re short staffed

Thank you ❤️

That’s literally what’s happening at my store! My SM have no managerial skills that keep baristas on. A month ago we had about 20 people. Now we have 11. ELEVEN!!! When we’re supposed to have like 30ish for the store to be properly staffed. I had a FULL mental breakdown one day. The SM cleaned up her act with me at least. I wanted part time for my mental health. This past week she scheduled me FORTY EIGHT HOURS. And bc were so short staffed my hours were like 55ish this week.

I keep trying to tell my DM that better training for managers would help with staff retention, but my DM just wants to see warm bubbly personalities to get those connection scores and to try to drive sales. It's like they don't care about staff retention.

Congratulations on the new job. Also you can report her. Her actions show she’s not prepared, equipped, or ready to be a SM.
