I'm not a super hotheaded person at all. When customers are mean to me I can always brush it off and I don't really have a problem with continuing to be polite to them, but today I was seriously considering if it was worth it to just mouth off at this couple today. I was soloing drive thru and this older couple pulled in. I asked them what I could make for them and the man, who was in the passenger seat, ordered an iced honey almondmilk latte. I had trouble hearing him because he was in the Passenger Seat, one of my BIGGEST pet peeves when I do DTO, so I had to make him repeat himself a few times. On top of that, I've only been working here for a month or two, and no one had ever ordered that before, so I was having trouble finding the button for it. After it was all figured out, his wife ordered a hot latte. I greeted them at the window, and the man leaned over and in the most smug and belittling tone, said "did you understand what our order was? do you know which one was hot and which one was iced?" and i was like yes......... and he then said "okay, which one was it? :)" he literally QUIZZED me on which drink was which. I felt so belittled and disrespected. He talked to me like I was a stupid child and that I needed his help. After they got everything, they told me to have a good day and I couldn't find it in me to say anything back, so I just gave them a half-assed wave. I know that was my bad, but I felt that they didn't deserve respect if they weren't gonna give it to me. I was super upbeat and friendly while I was taking their order and I apologized for the misunderstanding. The only good thing that came from this interaction is that it finally gave me the motivation to get the ball rolling on starting a payment plan for certification courses of what I actually wanna do with my life.

I really think they should make it policy that we dont a accept orders from passengers unless its the back left. Just for saving resources sake that would be loss due to inevitable mistakes.

I legit just tell people I can’t hear them from the other side of the car. If the driver doesn’t say it I’ll make em say it like five more times just to be petty. I personally love when they have to like climb over the driver to yell it into the speaker box 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 like yeah sure it hurts my ears, but I’ve worn this headset for almost 10 years so I’m like half deaf by now anyway lol it’s worth it.

speaking of half-deaf, have you ever accidentally released the air from a cold brew keg right above your ear? legit could not hear out of my right ear for the rest of the day.

Lol oh my god yep! Also those things scare the bajeezis outta me every single time lol some of my closers will go on headset and say things like “loud noise!” before they release it even if I’m like all the way in the back doin the pull or counting money 😭 bless their souls lol

I like to make the repeat themselves too. My partners will try and tell me the order, but I just let them know that I can hear the customer fairly well for the most part

Forreal. I can't understand why people get so frustrated when I can't hear them because they're in the passenger seat. And oftentimes the person in the driver's seat doesn't jump in to clarify. Like wtf????

And it's especially frustrating when, after the passenger has repeated themself 10 times, the driver *orders their own drink,* showing that they were *perfectly* capable of jumping in for their passenger and just didn't

I would have thrown my head set off and just walked away and asked someone else to complete the transaction. Props to you for sticking it out. I would have absolutely no patience for that kind of bull shit.
Also it wasn’t your fault, I hate when people order from the other side of the car and don’t know how to speak the fuck up.

Yesterday while working the drive through I had a man come through and he mumbled his order. So I asked him to speak up and repeat his order. He mumbled it again. And I was like. I cannot understand you you need to speak up. And he was like well I can’t understand you either. And I have Zero tolerance for people myself. So I was like. I need less attitude and more just telling me your order so you can get out of here. Thanks.

Literally if a customer starts being a dick to me I pretty loudly say over headset. "Hey guy's since im new (i am not) could I get a hand over at window?" (Provided we're not slammed) and it usually makes them shut up fast.
