When they tell me their drink is wrong after I read the drink back to them twice

Today a man ordered a tall iced caramel macchiato. He gets to the window and I hand it to him and he goes “What the hell is this?” I go “Your drink, sir”. “This shit ain’t mine. Mine was hot”. I told him to keep the iced one and I told bar to make a hot one. I give him his new one and he leaves the iced one on the ledge of my drive thru because I told him I couldn’t take it back from him. 🙄

I once had a girl throw the drink that I told her I couldn’t take back into the bushes next to the drive thru window. And she is literally a regular like she comes every day 🙄🤚
scubasteve56716 points2y ago
That’s a no for me dawg. Did you guys talk to her about it?
elianaaa021 points2y ago
No we didn’t realize until she drove away and she’s been back after but management tells us not to confront customers

I once told a customer:
“I can’t take your trash because then I would have to empty the trash can in the dumpster, sanitize it, and then put another bag in the trash can since your trash is from outside the store which slows down the line. It’s happened a few times this morning and that’s why our line has been so long...I know, I know corporate policies 🤪 am I right?!!”
Then I offer a bag to put their trash in their car. Looked like I was creating a customer connection, pushed the blame on corporate, and offered a solution to their problem so they’d leave happy.

today on window someone looked me in the eye and put their trash on the ledge like it was a normal thing to do... people are baffling

My favorite is a regular that always sits his empty bottles on the ledge in drive. Most will only tell him we can't take it, then take it away when he drives away leaving it there. It brings me great joy to tell him every time that if he "leaves on *my* ledge in *my* drive-thru, I will be sure that he is not allowed back; we have a list of individuals no longer allowed back to enjoy their Starbucks Handcrafted Drinks." with my shifts watching me \*evil smirk\* policy is policy?

May favorite is when I read their order back in its entirety, make sure to specify hot, and then they get to the window and throw the old “I wanted that iced” at me. OR they blow past the speaker box and wonder why their order isn’t ready at the window.... like I’m sorry ma’am but I didn’t even get to take your order lol
mradeline39 points2y ago
I've gotten SO sassy about saying "when I read your order back to you, you verified this is what you wanted, but sure, I can remake that for you"
Bubblebutt2173 points2y ago
No my favorite is when they come to the window and you ask if they have the “iced vanilla latte” to double check your screen is accurate and they tell you the entire drink contents down to size “no I had the iced vanilla latte with 3 pumps vanilla, oat milk, and VSC foam and extra caramel drizzle” Me:... Them: :) Me:...ok it will be $6.98 for the iced vanilla latte 🙃
tamstr82 points2y ago
that last one is always especially baffling to me.. like have you never been to a drive thru before

Tbh as long as the customer is friendly and doesn’t mind the extra wait time for say another drink or a food item I’m in a good mood. It’s when they add something or multiple things and expect to get out of the DT in like 30sec
_dreamsofthedead_34 points2y ago
Same but the egg bites take ages and then my manager is like whY iS tHE Line So LoNg
LeatherTurnip12247 points2y ago
Yeah true they do take a good amount of time 😪
sweet-seat13 points2y ago
i'm so split on this. even if they're nice, because they didn't plan ahead, now the person behind them has to wait longer. their food is getting cold. their drink is getting cold, or the ice is melting, or the frap is melting. and 9/10 the person behind them gets upset at us because they have to wait.
if it's a cake pop or something that doesn't require heating, i don't care, but drinks or sandwiches or whatever. it's just not fair all around. i always offer to throw it in and they can come pick up inside so the next customer can get their items. it usually works.

I have a customer that only orders egg bites....4 orders of them and then an oatmeal with extra extra steamed coconut milk....
ZaftigZephyr10 points2y ago
I love the people who come to Starbucks just for food😌
and 4 orders of egg bites and oatmeal with steamed milk in the morning!? Oof probably doesn't know how inconvenient that is
suziesheep3 points2y ago
EXACTLY!! And he wants a grande cup of the steamed coconut for free....
ZaftigZephyr5 points2y ago
For free??? Who da fuq he think he is? Like customers mostly just amuse me, but the nerve!
suziesheep1 points2y ago
And he comes everyday......
CuteLittleKarty3 points2y ago
Some guy ordered a black iced tea with heavy cream, I didn’t hear the heavy cream part. Gave him his drink and he said it was wrong. I got him a cup of cream to put in it, he said he wanted it mixed so he would just go to the one in the Kroger across the street and left his drink in the ledge outside my window 😑
thechamelioncircuit1 points2y ago
Lmao we ran out JUST before someone did this today and they made that stupid “oh no my overpriced food is gone” face
