So my store is closing early due to short staff and I was scheduled to close tonight but my district manager is saying since I was scheduled I have to work at another store for those hours... not to be annoying (I’m gonna be annoying) but why? I don’t work at that store.

I’m not entirely sure but I don’t think they can MAKE you work them but if you turn it down they won’t pay you the hours. They’ll only pay you if 1) you work it or 2) they don’t have any place for you to work.
ETA: sometimes it’s fun working at another store. Also sometimes it’s not.

Yea I totally get that. The reason I don’t want to is because I’ve never closed before and don’t want to. The only reason I am is because our store is EXTREMELY short staffed. I work mornings only so I feel like I’m being punished for offering to help MY store. Sorry if that sounds bratty

Oh, no I totally get it. If I were in your shoes I wouldn’t want to either. I don’t think they can make you, you’ll just lose the hours.
