Questions about being a future barista. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Demanio14
I’m moving to a new town soon and I’m thinking I’m gonna try and work at Starbucks there. I know everywhere’s gonna be different, but how possible would it be for $15/hr for as close to 40 hours a week as possible? And I know people can tip, how much in tips do you guys usually pull in a shift? Just wanna get an idea, thanks

All tips are also pooled and distributed later. We do not get individual tips and they’re usually not too much.

Unless $15 is the minimum in your area, that’s not happening. Starbucks pays absolute shit. Also that many hours is RARE unless you’re taking shifts from people who don’t want them.

Shit, really? What about for a shift supervisor? I’m more than qualified enough for it
desairologist 8 points 2y ago
Usually you don’t get hired on as one. You have to get promoted to one

Why is this being downvoted?

OP is asking a question about pay, which yall know sucks, stop acting so petty.

Go for a target starbucks, they hire 15/hr but no tips.

my Starbucks does 13.5 on weekdays and 14.5 on weekends! it depends on your state's minimum wage and where you're working at. I work at a travel plaza in NJ, (our MW is 12) and we have a pay raise out of the whole plaza due to the uniform guidelines and more intensive training for baristahood. 40 hours a week also is possible, depends on your Starbucks. I'm a minor and I'm scheduled for around 32, and there are people who work way more than me. For tips, it depends really on how many people are working, and how many customers you get. On a good day, sometimes I can be walking home with 15-20 dollars in tips working with 1-2 other Baristas. Some days you'll only make 3. My friend once made about 40 dollars in tips working alone in the morning.

I'd ask the Starbucks you're applying to what their pay is like and working conditions before you apply. also, don't be focused on going the corporate route! i work in a licensed store and we often are treated better than corporate employees sometimes. (besides my store being lazy as shit and not giving us barista discounts)

hope this helps!! <3
