Asm hiring process (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by steelclaymore13
So I think my manager and my Asm might try and block me from applying for an Asm position. The position is in a different district and I’m wondering if anyone knows what will happen when I send the application through? And also just any tips on applying for and being good at being an Asm position

Technically from what I understand your current manager would have no power over the decision making process, certainly not the asm. The only thing is if you are a bad shift or something, the manager/dm in the other district will find out from your current manager.

Right. I know she’s blackballed other baristas, and I know she’s not convinced I’m ready but I am as are several other baristas. I’m just worried she’s going to tell the dm that I shouldn’t be promoted or something toxic like that

You are a shift right?

Yes sorry. In position for nine months. Do you know if they would interview me before talking to her? Because there’s definitely salient information that should come out in the interview

They will more than likely reach out to your manager first. But, especially with the new career progression and hiring practices, you should still get at minimum a phone interview and an opportunity for the position, unless you’ve had a recent write up or serious coaching convo. I also just posted a comment to another person who’s about to interview for a supervisor position. If you’d like, check out my comment on the other post. Some of the info might definitely help you also. SM here who knows how it’s supposed to work. Good luck!

It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewere, would much rather you weren't doing.
