SSV appreciation (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by LibraryBackground309
*Disclaimer I'm a 274*** barista*

Okay, so my store's entire SSV team is flipping fantastic! They all run such a smooth floor and always rotate us baristas so we hardly burn out. They say things like "good work tonight" etc. but it feels awkward to say it back (maybe that's just me lol)

I find that I express things best in writing, so i was thinking of making cards for each of them. Is that weird? I transferred to my current store about 5 months ago (so i haven't known them too long)

Any suggestions for how to show my appreciation and respect for my amazing SSV team??

Making cards wouldn’t be weird. But it’s also totally fine to tell them they’re doing a great job. When my SSVs look overwhelmed I like to tell them they’re doing a good job because they probably need to hear it the most.

Not at all weird to say they've done good work too. Especially if they're actively rotating you and/or just keeping you in your favourite positions where you can effortlessly work all day. I know when I was a shift I made a lot of sacrifices to make the day smoother for my baristas, it's nice to know those efforts are noticed and appreciated.

do you not have partner appreciation cards there?

I don’t think it’s weird. I have kept every card given to me by my team. My green apron cards even live in my wallet to look at if I’m having a bad day or if I’m being too hard on myself. It’s a great gesture. 😁
