Here we go another vent (self.starbucksbaristas)

My manager just told us at our store that everybody is going to be made to work at a store +2 hours away even if we can’t drive. It’s also automatically an 8 hour shift. This is bs. I’ve talked to my coworkers most of us don’t want to do it. I’ve worked there before. Imagine every customer is the worst customer is terrible cause they’re all snobby entitled rich people. And the layout of the store is garbage. Like the ice machine is the farthest back in the store it could be. You even have to go down a couple of steps to go down there. and it’s in between two schools as well. So don’t even get me started on those little shits.

Make sure you get mileage for it

Even with mileage it’s not enough to make me want to go back there. It’s not worth the stress.

Fair enough I'm just thinking a 2 hour drive mileage would be like 40-50 dollars.

With the 2 hour drive plus the 8 hour shift it means I’ll either be leaving home at 2am or getting home at midnight and actually fuck that.

Are you sure they can do this? I know labor laws vary state to state but this just doesn't seem like something they can force you to do without your permission. I'd double check with someone higher than your SM pronto

I didn’t think they could require you to work at a store other than your own? (Only request it/ask you to)

What do you think would happen if all of you came to your manager together and refused?

Might be worth a shot. They’re obviously desperate for employees so I don’t imagine they would fire you guys.
