Do it

Do NOT let them get away with this. It will establish in their minds that they can do whatever they want and you need to put an end to that pronto

Absolutely. They want to unilaterally make changes that affect more than just themselves, and that’s not okay.

yes absolutely bring it up. this is not SSV appropriate behavior and will use this same tactic on others 1000%

Yes, why wouldn't you tell your manager? As a shift it's your job to communicate if your coworkers (especially another shift?!) Is being shitty at their job. I'm not one to taddle or micromanage, but if my coworkers are being shitty and it's making my life harder, my manager will be the first to know 🌝

Yes. Destroy them.

Yes. It is the individual's responsibility to tell the manager if they are unavailable at a given time, or want a different role. That is not something you get to make up on the fly.

Handling the situation once or twice to accommodate things is one thing, but doing this on the regular becomes a real pain and I, for one, would not put up with it.

(Note: this does not apply to when people are actually sick or have emergencies)

Is… Is this normal behavior from them? I would definitely talk to the manager, but I wouldn’t rule out that there was something going on. Does your store strictly follow the DCR for who is acting as SSV (edit, mistyped as on shift. I meant on as SSV) Was this other SSV feeling unwell / was there something going on in their life, were they scheduled out of availability? Were they scheduled this because the manager told them it’d be an easy barista shift and didn’t communicate it?

Like, not go discount they could definifely just be a dick, and I would still check in with your manager. At the minimum their communication skills could use some coaching. But if I could see myself doing similiar if there were unknown reasons (albeit with communicating it better.)

Yes, just ask what the proper protocol would be for changing who will be ssv the day of, and gradually move towards all this happening
