How are breaks + drinks/food per shift supposed to work? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Rare_Dragonfruit1885
Apparently it’s a huge point of confusion at my location. Some shifts only let you get one drink, others couldn’t care less how many you get, and it’s really confusing. I thought we got one free food and 3 free drinks a shift, but does it depend on how long your shift is? Some of my coworkers didn’t realize we were ever allowed more than one.

Also breaks are confusing as well. I always work 5 hour shifts so i always get my 10, and I know you get a 10 + 30 if you work over 6, but apparently its a debate on whether people that work 4 hours get a 10 or not

Also, apparently a shocking amount of my coworkers did not know that we get 1 free drink + food on days off. 🤦🏻‍♀️

You can have one free food, and as many drinks as you want.

You can only have one drink marked out at a time though, but you can get a new one once you finish/throw out the old one

You should get a 10 for every “major portion” of a 4 hour period, and a 30, for every 6 hours - so 2hr shift = a 10, 6hr = a 10 and a 30, 7hr = two 10s and a 30

at my store, we do 10s for everyone no matter what (unless they're only working like 1-2 hours), 30s for 6+ hours, and if you work 7+ hours usually you get a second 10 unless it's too busy. no one cares how many drinks we mark out during a shift. you get one food item during a shift, but if you're working that day we can do 2 (one counts as your daily item and one counts as your during-shift item)
