A lady made me cry today (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by CuteLittleKarty
I am a green bean. Started April 6th, so a little over a month. I got a stick that said greens tea lemonade. I got mixed up thinking it meant matcha. Put the drink in front of the lady and she was immediately pissy. Saying things like, “This isn’t what I ordered! I’m not taking this!” So I apologized and got my shift who said to get her in these situations. This woman was a partner! She works for Starbucks and had the audacity to tell my shift, “You need to train your partners better!” So my shift looked her up and down and said, “Obviously.” My coworkers comforted me, walked me through what I did wrong, and then went and told my store managers and now they are trying to find where she works to talk to her supervisor(there’s a chance we work in the same district lol). Just thought I’d rant a bit cause it ruined the rest of my day and left me so frazzled....

that is absolutely ridiculous!!!! how dare she say something like that. she obviously doesn’t remember being a green bean, or even remember she’s human for that matter. making mistakes is 100% okay bc that is how we learn and do better.

Yeah everyone just told me it’s part of the learning curve and it’s normal and she was being a “you know what” as my coworkers said lol. But it really got me down to be berated like it was something important instead of a silly drink

For me it helps to imagine them as toddlers... then their lil tantrums make more sense:) reply as if they're a small child too, shuts them up pretty quick

girl don’t sweat it. one drink and one customer does not define the worth and talents of a barista. starting out is hard and there are lots of names and abbreviations that you need to learn, and the only way to do that is practice and experience. she should have known better, and usually partners are more forgiving than that. keep keeping at it! 💕
