“Can I order over the phone???” (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by RICKYOURPOISIN
Lmao I hate ppl, today our cafe is closed and we only doing drive thru from open till 2 due to our night crew having been in contact with a COVID positive barista. Anywayyyy as you can guess the annoying phone calls come in this one wasn’t too bad but I needed to vent a lol after the day we had.

C: Hi I’m trying to place an order online but you guys have turned it off?

Me: yeah i apologize but we have turned them off because we are very understaffed so we will only be taking orders coming thru the drive thru.”

C: ok but Im thirty minutes away and already late to work is there anyway you can take the payment over the phone?

Me in an extra chipper voice this time: no we are so short staffed that’s why we will only be accommodating customers thru our drive thru, thank you for understanding and have a nice day!

And I hung up on her and right after she called back and immediately hung up, girl wtf? Why does everyone think being late to work means they should get special treatment? Idk maybe wake up early or brew coffee at home or idk worry about your job not coffee if you’re already late. Also you’re 30 minutes away? Girl this is MF New England there’s a dunkin literally every corner. I’m just so annoyed and tired of people acting like this is the literal only place to get coffee

Probably use us as an excuse at the office. Give the illusion that they can tell and manage time when the reality is they’re late or can’t.

“Oh I’m sorry I’m late the barista at Starbucks took forever to make my drink then it was made wrong so they had to remake it”

Lmao that’s what gets me even more tho. If you get to work late that is your own fault it’s not news to anyone that coffee places with drive thru’s are busy during the morning commute times. I’ve had office jobs before and being late because Starbucks had a line was never an excuse for tardiness late is late.

Yeah but when they come in the cafe (or mobile order it should be done when they get there.) I agree. Late is late. Starbucks isn’t an excuse. You should’ve left earlier or skipped the coffee so don’t bitch or use us as excuse because of your poor time management

Also. Why are you mobile ordering while you’re 30 mins away? Even if mobile orders were up and running your skinny vanilla latte will be cold by the time you get here. Oh I see. You’re not actually 30 minutes away? That was what? A lie? Of course.

idk how you guys put up with it. I had a woman scream at me because “she’s in a hurry” I looked at her and asked. “Then why are you here?” you come into my job. You’re on my time now. Go into an office and have to wait HOURS. At Starbucks? Maybe 5 minutes. oh my golly gosh mr important. 😋 though at my bux if someone calls and tries to place in order we have to treat it like it’s a scam. So we have to hang up.

that’s a great response, do you remember what her reply was? i repeated a customer’s frappachino specifications in cafe to confirm and he said, “i’m in a hurry, can’t you speed things up?” i so badly wanted to say if it was that important to be on time, he wouldnt have stopped to get a drink - but just told him i was talking as fast as i could lmao

Lol see I have low tolerance for people even at work. So as per her response it was “I’m THE Customer!” And I replied with “Yep and I’m THE Barista” she didn’t have anything to say after that. If someone gave me crap about me repeating their order I’d probably tell them I had to because I need to make sure the order was correct. I don’t have time to constantly remake shit cause you’re not listening 😋

As I calmly explained a situation to a rude customer, she said “Don’t argue with me! I’m the customer!” My filter must have malfunctioned cuz I said “Don’t argue with me I’m the professional.” I’m still riding that high.

The only time I’ve ever pushed a drink through was when the person ordering was a diabetic and they were experiencing a low blood sugar. I totally get it

My new fantasy: a customer yells at me “IM IN A HURRY.” I’ll calmly say “Hey me too. Wanna know the difference? I’m already at my job :)”

One time a customer came in and ordered a venti americano, black, right at open. He was the only customer in the store, and after I started pulling the shots I turned around and started cleaning, wiping counters, etc. because what else do I do while waiting for all those shots. He gets my attention and goes “I’m kind of in a hurry, can you make my drink?” I said, “yes sir, the shots are pulling for your drink. There’s nothing to do but wait until they’re done.” And he apologized twice for being a dick about it! I wasn’t expecting his apology at all so it was a nice change from all the entitled customers. Unfortunately that was a while ago and customers aren’t as nice these days.

Poor planning on their part, doesn't constitute an emergency on mine.

OMG TELL ME WHY THIS HAPPENED TO ME TODAY - this lady called my store asking to make an order and give payment over the phone, and after 10 minutes of explaining to her, she finally placed a mobile order -_-

We shut down mobiles and locked the cafe last week for a few hours, I took the same call. They are insatiable and unrelenting. Work places furnish drip coffee. I’m sure it’s crappy but at least has caffeine. But what was weird was I got that call on a weekend. I really don’t know but I envision some well off lady, comfy in her home on the weekend and she can’t even make coffee
