I find a well-paced 4-Mississippi count gets me to where I need to be, texture-wise.

I know all Starbucks should have a transparent plastic cup with markings for where the foam should separate from the milk. This is about to sound super weird, but whenever you've got some downtime, grab that cup and a steaming pitcher and fill it up to the venti line (I think it's a venti) and practice aeration by steaming the soapy water. That way, you won't waste any milk and you can improve your skills :)
