The CDC lifted the mask mandate for people who are vaccinated (so now everyone basically) but I’m sure Starbucks will still have a mask policy in place. Can’t wait to be yelled at all weekend for simply asking.

That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw the news. Our store is in a high traffic tourist area and it’s honestly been a problem since the pandemic started. Good luck and cross your fingers corporate responds In an unusually timely manner lol.

It’s still mandated in my state, but I’m expecting some stubborn people. We usually get a few per shift and it always makes me uncomfy

I’m jealous, I live in a state that lifted mask requirements months ago. I’m so thankful Starbucks didn’t bend though.

A woman came in a few hours ago without a mask and held up a card for the COVID shot when we ask if she could put on the mask. She wasn’t there to order, though, just wanted to use our bathrooms (which weren’t opened, so she just left).
I think it’s great she took responsibility in getting the shot, but it’s still important to give mask a bit more time, especially for retail business. If they ask you to come in with a mask, it’s in their full right to have it as a rule in their store.

I literally argued this on another subreddit. While you may be vaccinated, the cdc still says you are required to wear a mask if the government or business says so.

I had a woman go to get the vaccine card out of her wallet and I just firmly ‘it’s still corporate policy you have to wear it in the store’ and she rolled her eyes but put it on. I’m in the south and frankly I’m worried people will fake the card. I didn’t think she was, but I also didn’t want the green bean to think they could get out of it with the vaccine card.

And its not like we can be checking every single person who comes in to see if they have a vaccine card. I live in California but in a pretty conservative part of it and im not looking forward to dealing with people insisting they dont need one.

I can’t find anything released on it on the Starbucks partner hub... in fact all I see is that they are one of the companies still enforcing after states lifted. But who knows🤔

Our manager told us at the last meeting that back in April it was on a weekly update?? Since then I haven't even been asking people to put on a mask since he said we can't enforce anymore. I was all about enforcing it, it was stressful but I did it. I don't ask people anymore because I feel it'll just invite some kind of argument. But now I want to investigate and see if we can actually enforce it or not.

I’ve been told we’re going to just serve customers if they say they’re vaccinated when asked to put on a mask. Is this something that an SM can do? What should I do? Really don’t feel like confrontation with SM would go well and I also like my benefits.

Starbucks as a corporation still requires masks in all stores. They haven’t changed that yet. And some states, like PA, are still requiring masks until the state reaches 70% vaccinated.
Doesn’t change the fact we’ll get yelled at for even asking, when they could be lying about being vaccinated and we can’t prove it.

“Assuming the best on others” is what got us in lockdown, what got this pandemic to expand and mutate. Ppl only care about themselves and not others, it’s just sad. If I had a second job I’d quit starbucks for not caring about the health of their employees and only about the customers that are spreading the virus.

We just got a message from our district manager saying that the signs are going to stay up on our door but we're not to police or ask anybody about putting on a mask. That we have to assume positive intent.

My store reopened the cafe so it’s basically impossible to enforce at this point. But I still tell people to put one on and if they can’t put one on while ordering, they can wait outside.

Hey I don’t know if this is everywhere, and I haven’t seen an official Starbucks announcement, but my DM just informed us this afternoon we will no longer be requiring masks for customers, and we are supposed to just encourage social distancing.

we had 4 individual customers within the first hour of the morning come in without a mask. a regular waited in line & came up to the register with their mask hanging from one ear, and asked “is this optional in here?”.
