Am I the only one who thinks the dress code is kind of bull shit??
Pardon my french but ugh couldn’t they be a little more lax
Alana_Chowdhury_11 points2y ago
Somethings I understand such as they want thicker materials because of hot food and drinks. However idk why they care so much about hooded tops and footwear. The customers don’t see our feet they won’t know if we wear hot pink shoes and it doesn’t distract from the apron???
TheBlueSuperNova7 points2y ago
I think hoods can still be snagged on a lot of stuff so that’s probably a safety thing.

Well CS does multiple tasks out in the lobby so they definitely see you head to toe at those times
Alana_Chowdhury_2 points2y ago
Ohhhh true I don’t have a cafe lol even so I don’t think people would care lol
dazedandconfusedhere2 points2y ago
It’s not about people caring though it’s about “company image”
SnooDonuts339810 points2y ago
Overall yea, but when I started in 2015 we couldn’t wear jeans or tshirts, so I guess I’m thankful for not having to ruin my nice clothes making coffee anymore lol.
rio8envy71 points2y ago
Same. Even then I had designated work blouses so I wasn’t messing up my nice stuff.
Epic_Winn8 points2y ago
Everything used to be black and collared sooo I’m good.
rio8envy71 points2y ago
I’m much happier than being in collard shirts. I’m good too. And we can wear certain sneakers now. It used to strictly be those ugly ass anti slip shoes that cost a fortune and you could buy from Starbucks or specific brands.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s one of those things that are in place to maintain the Pizazz! of buying a $5 latte.
Would you rather wear an itchy uniform that you have to wash every day else it’ll get rank with your stress juice, or just wear your own clothes but specifically the appropriate colors/patterns?
Consider it from that angle. Which is better?
tragictimesatrh [OP]1 points2y ago
I basically do that right now with the clothes I wear to work, but I’ve had jobs where I wore a specific uniform and this somehow still bothers me more. Idk. I think it’s the way my managers go about it.
89ZERO2 points2y ago
Then if that’s the case, talk to them about it politely and concisely.
Otherwise, within the bounds of the dresscode, make yourself more comfortable.
dazedandconfusedhere4 points2y ago
It used to be you had to wear all black
TheFriendlyFeminist2 points2y ago
From other jobs I’ve worked I’m happy to wear jeans and a t shirt. Seems pretty lax
AngelleTherese2 points2y ago
I was only allowed to wear a dress or pants suit at my last job. Most places require the same shirt and only like five different colored pants but all the same material. I think Starbucks is pretty lax as is. Never worked at any fast food place where they allow crazy hair colors and piercings and tattoos. But maybe you’re right, maybe everywhere in general should just let you wear almost anything you want.
rio8envy71 points2y ago
Dude this is lax. when I started it was kakis and polos or nice blouses. They also only allowed natural colored hair, all tattoos had to be hidden and no facial piercing, and expensive and ugly ass work shoes you either bought from Starbucks or spent a small fortune on elsewhere. Now we can have colored hair, beanies, more of a color range, 1 facial piercing, tattoos can be visible as long as appropriate and not on face and certain sneaker styles so this is much better.

overall yeah, but tbh, compared to how it was before i started ill take this lol
