Becoming a Shift? Advice please (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BaristaBeech
So recently it’s been brought up by three coworkers, another shift lead, and my store manager that I would be a good shift lead. Right now my store is doing block scheduling, I live an hour away, and have some sleep issues I’m figuring out so the earliest I can come in everyday is 6 a.m. and the latest I’m allowed to stay as day shift is 1 p.m.

I’m hoping this will change as covid restrictions and such become more laid back and I’m wondering if I’d still be able to to the shift position going from about 6/7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the latest or even if I could do a shift position with the current time slot I’m in. I’ve already told my store manager I’m not sure if I’d be able to/feel comfortable in the block scheduling right now but I have a career progression meeting tomorrow afternoon with her so I’m going to talk with her about it then.

I’d just really like your opinions and/or advice if I were to become a shift lead.
