MASKS? What are those? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Ok-Bowl4392
I just heard from my SSV that as of this Monday Starbucks is lifting the mask policy for customers. There’s a lot of reasons behind why, but basically we’re required to wear masks but customers are not. Don’t like it? The company doesn’t care. If you don’t show up to work you’ll most likely be let go as this is every corporate store no matter where you live.

I left Starbucks years ago as a supervisor. I have nightmares of suddenly working there again. I mean, like being sexually harassed my first six months, having a manager tell another employee the death of their relative wasn't enough reason to have a day off. I saw a perfectly good manager witch hunted. I am unsurprised that they are taking this absolutely idiotic stance.

I'm lucky I moved to NorCal and have 2 Dutch Bros next to me for fast coffee. If you walk away, stop giving them your money. I did. They've lost so much money that I happily give to other establishments that treat their baristas well.

Yup it’s such a double standard. And we are still handing out mobile orders one by one, and keeping sugar, cream, straws, and stir sticks behind the bar and putting them in drinks for customers. Why? There was a communication a while ago about loosening up on the cleaning routine because high touch surfaces were not as likely for transmission.

I work at store in downtown Nashville. We literally hand out a box of masks A DAY. Our store had to adopt the mask policy early because our city and county just ended all mandates. I kid you not 5 minutes after we got word from our manager we served a couple without masks and they took the chance to degrade, harass, and threaten us while filming the whole time. It didn’t matter that we still served them, they wanted to rub it into our faces that we had no power now.

My district lifted the new mask rules and were now having customers wear masks until my state puts a plan in place

we should strike. we make terrible wages for the enormous profit we generate for this company. we all know damn well they wouldn’t be able to replace us quickly enough, they’d lose millions in revenue and they’re not willing to do that. we generate their profit, we have the power here. we should be striking for better wages (especially in drive thru stores) and better safety precautions.

I agree but nobody at my store would actually walk out. There’s to many people here who need jobs and unfortunately we can be replaced quickly at my store
