Grande rant and a plea for advice (self.starbucksbaristas)

I enjoy my job. Really. I do. But one thing I cannot stand is two faced people.

So I have been working at this store for about 8 months now. I’ve been at Starbucks for 2 years. And during this time, I’ve learned the thing that gets me going, isn’t customers. They leave. It’s SSVs who, when around the SM or DM put on a great show of leading the floor, calling people breaking rules, and making sure everyone is working hard, but then, when nobody is watching, do EVERYTHING that they call people on

Clock in, then get dressed.
On their phone texting on the floor
Work at a snails pace or worse, just stand there doing literally nothing
Take 20min tens.
On the floor with no apron, hat (which is required by my county health Dept), or worse, NO MASK IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS!!!

In case you couldn’t guess, I have one of those. I’m a closer, and she is one of the main closing SSVs.

My question is:
Do I pull her aside and call her on her shit?
Or
Do I just take it over her head straight to my SM?
Or tell another SSV?
Ignore it?

I don’t know, but if I don’t do something, I’m gonna start getting really petty and angry, and will start calling her on it in front of everyone, which I think is probably the worst option.

Thanks

If you trust your manager, I’d go straight to them about this. Especially when it comes to masking, aprons, hats, etc, those are health and safety issues. Maybe consider talking to another barista you know has witnessed this so you have some backup, and I’d consider taking note of some specific instances - it’ll be easier to explain and easier for your manager to act on the situation. Good luck :)!

your manager or if you have another shift that you trust. i wouldnt tell her directly, bc then she could get to your manager before you do and twist the story. hope it works out :)
