Wait, you didn’t have a manager on duty? No SM or SSV?!

nope. we had a ssv in training but she kept disappearing. that's usually how my store works - they randomly assign someone to be "acting shift"

Are they asking to get sued??? If a customer gets sick and there’s missing temp checks or out of date stock that day….

we have a bunch of baristas that know how to shift tasks like the pull, order, refunds etc... but rn we only have 3 real shifts. apparently everyone else is being "trained" to be a shift. But almost every customer today asked for our managers number/email, so hopefully my manager finally gets her shit together

Hopefully! I was thinking more from a liability view - when you’re signed off as a SSV you accept legal responsibility for the health & safety of your shift. If things go wrong you can personally face prison & a £50,000 fine (at least in the UK). Without having a fully trained person on shift, Starbucks is opening itself to a massive lawsuit if anything goes wrong. Maybe that could be a persuasive argument? Clearly your store manager doesn’t care so I’d make the point to your distract manager if possible. Hope things get better for you!
