We never got trained properly, it’s so much work for minimal pay, the customers are so rude. We’re incredibly understaffed.. is anyone else dealing with this. I only make 10hr, it’s becoming so mentally and physically exhausting

I was trained by morning shift during thanksgiving. I have only ever barred 3 times in the 7 months of being here. I hate being on Drive everyday. I’m already looking at other jobs..
mrbubblegxm7 points2y ago
i’m the exact opposite! i was always put on drive thru and now i hate it. if a shift is confused where a button is they ask me. so i’m good but i also don’t know how to bar LOL

Why are we paid $10/hr? Can I give up my Spotify "perk" for extra money? Starbucks, give me more money and let me decide how I want to spend it
Admirable_Ask4236 [OP]20 points2y ago
Idk it’s awful it should at least be 15 for what we deal with

I feel this. I quit a while back, my coworkers were rude, the training was inconsistent, it made my mental health decline rapidly. It made the customers look like angels. Quitting was the best decision of my life 🤦♀️
TTstari9 points2y ago
why did we have the same experience? had a catty team of coworkers who would literally be laughing and turn silent as I came in. had a coworker say i was talking shit about her because I said I couldn't stay late for her if she was late, which i often did bc she was consistently 30 minutes late to her shifts. people would ignore me when trying to communicate literally anything during a shift. never knew had to do anything right bc of training, and instead of telling me, my coworkers would just talk badly about me behind my back

This was my old store! I had it out with a barista who treated me like shit. She started yelling at me about helping her when she was on dto and then yelled in my face when she was clocked out that she was gonna get ME fired!!! 😂😂 I said I didn’t feel safe and got an immediate transfer. You are getting bullied and if the manager doesn’t do anything about it, go to your DM
strawberry-s0da2 points2y ago
Omg 🤦♀️ yup sounds about right. I loved the job tbh. If I moved to a different place I'd reapply. My coworkers would be so snappy at me when I'd get anxious and stutter over things, I have an anxiety disorder, which they knew, and autism, which was undiagnosed and unknown at the time. One called me stupid, and the others followed her lead, and the GM defended her cause they're friends. The one who called me stupid had a history of being rude to people too, but ofc no one did anything.
TTstari1 points2y ago
Im so sorry you experienced that and I'm also neurodivergent, so I really can relate.
katnip0941 points2y ago
This finally happened to me today. There's so much hate towards me and I'm sure I know why (don't feel like posting here because I know my coworkers are on here), but it's stuff that's literally out of my control. And when I would do something "wrong," I'd get yelled at by several people, and it wasn't even something that was wrong, I just did it differently than the people on that shift did. I can't wait to quit this garbage job.

I just started last week an every night my feet have swollen so much and it HURTS. It hurts REALLY BAD. We’re at super high volume store so I never really get to just stop for a moment, and I’m so tired.
hailvy4 points2y ago
If it helps, your feet eventually get used to it and they stop hurting and getting super swollen. My stores really high volume too and it suuuucks
dazedandconfusedhere3 points2y ago
I’ll second this! Also getting good shoes is a game changer. I’m 8 months pregnant and have even gotten used to being on my feet so much!
Compression socks are good too, but they might just help because of the pregnancy part lol!
rudebii8 points2y ago
it won't get better and you don't deserve it, quit. It's an employee's job market in this field, no reason to endure a shit job.
Maybe apply around first.

That pay is inhumanely low, I'm sorry.
the42ndfl00r6 points2y ago
I quit last week. My SM was heartless.
LatterRooster4 points2y ago
Once covid perks are gone I’m gone ✌️
teensybeansy4 points2y ago
Yes! I’ve only been at my store about a month and was never trained on drive through. Which big time sucks because it I can’t be as useful as somebody else. Somebody who was hired same time I was quit a month in and totally don’t blame them. It’s a lot of work for such little pay. It’s beyond mentally and physically exhausting plus having to deal with school work at the same time is a lot so I get where you’re coming from and I’m only working max 25 hours a week. I don’t know how anybody at the store is doing 40+! Nobody would honestly blame you for quitting.
TylerJ7163 points2y ago
I make $14 but that's only because I live in a County where minimum is $13, and I was hired right at the 10% raise thing. But my paycheck is less than what I made at $10.75 from my previous job with everything that gets taken out with insurance and 401k and shit that America requires me to have 🙃🙃 I'm transferring in hopes a cafe store will at least refresh me from a dt store

I decided I needed to leave a week ago. I’m started applying for jobs but plan to stick it out until I can use all my sick time and PTO
I already have two interviews lined up. You can do it!
