If you have access to a printer, type up a letter that states you are putting in your 2 weeks and the date of your last day. It can be short. If you dont have a printer just do it in writing. Give it to your SM. Thats pretty much it

how do i get over the anxiety of doing this
badatlife15 11 points 2y ago
Remember that it’s your life to worry about and literally your managers job to worry about the store/staffing. Take care of yourself.
tiddytj [OP] 3 points 2y ago
of course, but i don’t want to deal with all of the dirty stares or to have any convo
badatlife15 3 points 2y ago
I mean not what I would do but you could just not show, but if you eventually want to use them as a reference or someday down the line might want to get rehired it’s probably not the way to go. I can’t imagine your fellow baristas are going to give you dirty looks because I think we all get it and if your manager is that immature that they’re going to visibly display their disapproval of you doing what’s best for you then you need to be running as far away from that place. Good luck! It’s like ripping of a bandaid, it sucks but once it’s done you’ll feel better.

Then leave it on your SMs desk and be done with it. They’re only giving dirty looks because they’re jealous

Do it bro Im quitting tomorrow and anxious af too!!! Just dont GAF and do it without thinking about it much. If you know this is what you want to do, take control!!! I get caring about your partners but you owe nothing to corporate

I’m in the same boat. I’m terrified about how it’ll play out, but I know I’ll feel a billion times better once it’s over and done with
tiddytj [OP] 2 points 2y ago
yes!! i know it’s so scary , but i have to just suck it up and do it. starbucks has been such a terrible place for my mental health, the staff and corporation and my manager are TERRIBLE and make me feel like shit.
tiddytj [OP] 2 points 2y ago
really? ahh yeah my environment working here is so fucking toxic, my mental health has gone down the drain here .
dodofishman 1 points 2y ago
Yeah, my mental health has suffered a lot from this job as well. Ultimately you need to put your health first. Quit and go somewhere else better.

Thinking about quitting but my SM always works hours I'm not there, so I never see her, and when I do, she's super busy and/or is about to leave. I can't ever call her because she never responds to me and I would be so embarrassed to just put my two weeks on her desk because everyone sits there during their breaks and would read it lol (plus they're all very gossip-y). Idk what to do 🥲
dodofishman 2 points 2y ago
I mean if you're leaving anyway, tbh who cares lol, let them read it. I was thinking about doing the same thing but couldn't find an envelope lol. You out this ho
badatlife15 1 points 2y ago
Send it in an email, obviously not the first choice, but if you never see your Sm and they’re hard to get a hold of by phone.
nonnaan 2 points 2y ago
Thanks I'll keep this in mind

I’m checking the schedule so that I can give my notice during a time my SM is there but I’m not scheduled, handing her the notice, having as small a conversation about it as possible, then I can GTFO and let her handle her emotions while not around me
jacquelinebburkhart 1 points 2y ago
you can always lead that you have another opportunity maybe in a field that’s more important to you (even if it isn’t true, doesn’t matter). ~usually~ people are understanding that not everyone wants to work at here forever
InternationalSector3 1 points 2y ago
I literally called my former SM and told her on the phone that I’m putting my 2 weeks in and that two weeks from the day we talked would be my last day
