I can't wait to be done with school so i can leave this place
MrsOceanGrown97 points2y ago
I’ve consumed more alcohol than coffee in the past 6 months.
amazing_redhead [OP]43 points2y ago
Me too. I never used to drink either. I hope you can take some time off for yourself
LavanderSkies09303 points2y ago
Same
SnooDonuts339857 points2y ago
I wasn’t great before, but it’s definitely starting to make things worse
amazing_redhead [OP]20 points2y ago
Yes, this is it exactly
wtchtrsh55 points2y ago
A customer flipped over their table at me two days ago, resulting in a busted toe nail. My toe doesn’t hurt any more, everything was documented properly with starbucks and authorities. But I don’t want to go back to work.
amazing_redhead [OP]36 points2y ago
I wish starbucks would address this kind of thing and defend us
BlackHollowGhoul2413 points2y ago
We ought to be defending eachother.
kxnkycxrly9 points2y ago
that customer would’ve had a busted toenail as well. fuck the customer is right and not defending yourself. fuck my job at that point.
wtchtrsh3 points2y ago
I just immediately ran inside and locked the door.
jdivision85 points2y ago
Are you suing said customer? Because I most definitely would be.
wtchtrsh2 points2y ago
This was someone having a mental health crisis and they were gone before police arrived (typical).
BusyLeek23512 points2y ago
Sounds like a lawsuit to me.
wtchtrsh2 points2y ago
What would that be? Just the nature of the job puts their employees at risk of being attacked?
Gingersnap61650 points2y ago
When getting hit by a car sounds better than going to work rn
New-Cartoonist-314014 points2y ago
Sad, I think man what if I just got into an accident on my way to work.. that’s absolutely awful!
hailvy26 points2y ago
You’re dead? Um better find some coverage or that’s a write up
Avuneon10 points2y ago
We're going to need a doctor's note
New-Cartoonist-31403 points2y ago
That we will promptly disregard with the notion “Starbucks policy doesn’t accept doctors notes as excused absence.”
Millerboycls0910 points2y ago
Are you me?
New-Cartoonist-31406 points2y ago
It’s just so sad! I have a life outside this job! I don’t want to leave that, I gotta quit.
Interesting-Start40836 points2y ago
already have one, and this job is making it much worse 🤦🏻♀️ (a couple ssvs, customers, and faster faster faster)
New-Cartoonist-31408 points2y ago
They say faster, you should go slower
MattyScrant31 points2y ago
Making me? Shit it’s the cause.
Cool_Beans_23219 points2y ago
I’m barley holding together there.
amazing_redhead [OP]10 points2y ago
You are your own top priority, if you can take some time off, definitely give yourself a break
josiemoppinnn16 points2y ago
i got called useless and worthless in the drive through yesterday because we were out of dragon fruit... i have never smoked more weed in my entire life than i have working at this job for a year
honeykoala1512 points2y ago
my two favorite lines rn are “I’m not in charge of ordering” and “we’ll get more in when the warehouse decides to send us some”
josiemoppinnn6 points2y ago
omg plz imma write this down
Balamamama2 points2y ago
Yep, I advise people to call corporate.
CriticalSheep13 points2y ago
The pandemic killed my love of this company... Starbucks showed its true colors when it comes to their priorities and how they really feel about their employees through the last year. I'm just finishing paying off a bunch of debt and then I'm out. I can't wait. I'm so tired of working 7 days a week... I got to the point a few months ago where I couldn't do it anymore and started scheduling one weekend off a month for mental health.
Cdreska3 points2y ago
Sbux doesn’t put you over 40 hrs unless you’re a manager etc?
CriticalSheep5 points2y ago
Starbucks is my second job. I work 5 days at my full time job and Bux is my weekend gig. So I work 7 days a week.
Cdreska-3 points2y ago
Quit Starbucks.
CriticalSheep7 points2y ago
Mkay I'll get right on that.
Like don't you think I would have done that already if I had the ability to do so?
New-Cartoonist-314011 points2y ago
🙋🏼♀️, mentally and physically... I’m trying to implement a slowdown at my store, less of a strike but still may get some points across. I no longer will over exert myself for the benefit of the all mighty customer.
jdivision88 points2y ago
I know a lot of us that are implementing the slow down. I most definitely am at my store. I tell everyone every day. “Don’t work too hard. If sbux really cared about us, they’d give us more labor. So let’s not care about them.”
honeykoala158 points2y ago
I’m interested in this idea. Can you elaborate? I think I might understand. When we are short staffed I’ve starting telling my team “if it takes them 15 minutes to get their drink, that’s how long it takes. There’s only a few of us. If there’s a problem, maybe we should have more labor on the floor”
New-Cartoonist-31407 points2y ago
Yes. Basically don’t over exert yourself. No running around. Work at a normal pace. I have been telling my baristas periodically to just relax, honestly the way I measure my slow enough pace is if I am physically sweating... which normally is the standard pace at our store
honeykoala157 points2y ago
Is that what you mean by implementing a slow down?

katnip0947 points2y ago
YEP! I'm like one bad day from never coming back
rusting_oceans7 points2y ago
I drank when I got home every single night last week. I *never* drink.
InfiniteFriez7 points2y ago
Yeah I hate how this workplace feels. I thought it would be much friendlier and fun and relaxed and it’s 100% not that at all.
xbabyvenusx-2 points2y ago
Then you need to speak to your higher ups, You shouldn’t feel negatively at all.

Before Sbux, my vice was caffeine and tobacco. Now it’s caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, my prescribed medication, and.... other things for energy and escape.
But it’s not just Sbux. All good service is just a bunch of functioning addicts who hate people. Lol
Similar_Ad2894 points2y ago
I've always been mentally ill but now I'm mentally ill with stress hives from this job ✌️
SowMindful4 points2y ago
The consumer world worries me.
El_Gabe69-4203 points2y ago
This is literally how I've been feeling since January. I've got one semester left of school but I'm qualified enough to start in the bottom of a new industry so I'm applying right now!!
I really hope you can hold out and end up fine. I've been here 3 years and this last year and a half has been TESTING all of us.
amazing_redhead [OP]3 points2y ago
Congrats! I'm so excited for you! I hope this next chapter brings enough relief and joy to make up for the time spent at the bux
El_Gabe69-4202 points2y ago
Thank you! It's been one hell of a journey. I hope your future holds something bright for you when it's time to leave the company 😁
amazing_redhead [OP]1 points2y ago
Thank you 💚💚
BusyLeek23513 points2y ago
I was sick for a week and prayed I had covid so I could have two weeks off.
I had only been working for about two weeks
sammiipiie1 points2y ago
Omg I feel this so hard. I already HAD covid, I was sick for like almost two months, couldn’t breathe without my nebulizer, it was Awful. And I Still wish I get it again so I could stay at home for another month bc my mental health is TANKING rn 🙃🙃🙃🙃
kizzythaboss3 points2y ago
🙋🏿♀️I took three mini vacations between March and April. It was still not enough. 🥺
amazing_redhead [OP]3 points2y ago
I'm taking a month off. Fingers crossed it'll help
Betwixtyiff3 points2y ago
When I was at a much much much higher volume store than I am now I was on 6 blonde shots a day and genuinely almost walked out the door and into traffic after some bad customer interactions. That was right before the pandemic hit and since moving to a licensed store that’s much quieter I’m definitely doing better but it’s still kind of really ass here
amazing_redhead [OP]5 points2y ago
I feel like customers are the biggest issue. Like, hey, I'm a person, it's just coffee, you don't need to act like that. Literally eing nice will get you so much farther. I will move mountains for you if you are nice to me but if you're going to be an asshile expect getting the bare minimum
ScalieDraggy3 points2y ago
Yes. Too bad this state has no cannabis. Not legal at all.

jinglebells132 points2y ago
I quit for this exact reason. I miss making drinks and obsessively cleaning because I’m OCD and it was satisfying for me, but honestly beet decision I made. I like Starbucks, but the people make or break it. The problems go farther than even my district manager at this point though, and it’s really disappointing seeing how we really aren’t valued. This company isn’t worth your serenity. It’s just coffee! F anyone who says otherwise, including corporate-brainwashed managers.
frient19952 points2y ago
I quit for that exact reason.
jaahay2 points2y ago
I'm not a barista and I feel for us all.
