Put the pay it forward in the tip jar. Or at least 5 of it. I’m done with the ima pay the person behind me 18 or even 28 dollar drink and food bill. I need to feed my kids and these people are already in line and gonna pay for it. How about...... me: “great to see you today Cynthia, I noticed you weren’t rung up for your butter croissant, did you want one?! “ Customer: “oh, yeah. I forgot. But geez I just saw that persons 8 drinks and you got them out so fast! I’ve only been in line for 5 min and the line was around the building!!!! Here’s a little extra for your efforts to get me to work on time!!”

I just did the tips for our store and it was $0.50/ hr, from a very affluent area. :’(
Many-Medicine68367 points2y ago
god this is us every week
sharkoss3 points2y ago
Same with our store. The only time we get more than $1 is only during the holidays :(
jooliahgooliah16 points2y ago
$1.01/hour this week for us :,(
Improvmomolyfe22 points2y ago
You guys get a $1/hour!?
Many-Medicine683615 points2y ago
our store rarely makes 70 cents an hour and we have the highest amount of mobile orders for a drive thru and cafe store IN THE STATE.
jooliahgooliah3 points2y ago
We typically earn around $1.40 more or less most weeks. I’ve only been at this store for a year though. At my last store (in a mall) we never broke .50 even at the holidays. I know the pain of low tips.
Cooch_21197 points2y ago
Us too exactly
moonkive4 points2y ago
wow, we’re the busiest store in a very big city (and peak is constant for us) and we never break .65 for tips... $1 sounds lovely
sweetyang15 points2y ago
Or more I don't work there any more. Went to get free bday drink today and gave them 5 dollars.
LatterRooster7 points2y ago
Thanks for your part! Bday drinks weren’t working for my customers on Monday!! It was terrible. I had about 5 people with birthdays show me their id and the app wasn’t showing their birthday. I checked the personal info and it said may 17. So idk why it wasn’t working but of course I made it right! You get the drink anyhow.
sweetyang3 points2y ago
Thanks to having a good mom I have a habit of over tipping.

LITERALLY MY STORE WAS DOWN ON TIPS TOO LIKE WHY
sydbey_9 points2y ago
I just did our tips and they were really high for our store!
Kimmikkokat10 points2y ago
Just got done with ours and they were .68/hour. Which is like half what they usually are
sydbey_3 points2y ago
Ours were almost 1.60/hour I was really surprised
xphyria8 points2y ago
just did tips today
cries in 0.60/hr
banels0n7 points2y ago
Before they changed digital tips to our paycheck, my store would have $1.50+ and now it’s barely $1. I get what they’re trying to do but tips are really great for extra spending money that I need this week instead of taking money out of my bank.
CuteLittleKarty7 points2y ago
I thought my tips were a different amount this week. I usually get $25-$35 a week but this week it was only $17
Kristotf4 points2y ago
normally on 25 hour weeks I'll get $5-7 in tips :/
Solid_Temperature_384 points2y ago
Wait like in total or per hour
LatterRooster3 points2y ago
In total
Kristotf2 points2y ago
Total. I think most I have ever recieved in a weeks tips was $18 and that was Christmas week 2018
Solid_Temperature_381 points2y ago
Damn I usually get 50-70 a week a work 20-30 hours
yeeet-haw-baybee3 points2y ago
our store rarely hits $1/hr in tips. this week was like 86 cents. pain <3
muhkiim2 points2y ago
Starbucks needs to pay better. I'd rather see them start giving fair compensation to their employees than have people tip more.
He11oboyo1 points2y ago
And then they say we're supposed to tax our own tips. No thank you 😤
MysticalGnar1 points2y ago
We averaged $0.46/hr and we were busier than ever and had our lowest drive times ever.
insecure-nightmare1 points2y ago
NO CAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST US LIKE THE SHIFT ON TIPS WAS SHOOK AF
LatterRooster0 points2y ago
Half the ssv (at my store) don’t know how to even count digital tips: when I log off my til it doesn’t even tell me my digital tips. Is there something wrong with that?
banels0n4 points2y ago
They changed digital tips to be put on your paycheck. So we don’t pull them anymore.
LatterRooster4 points2y ago
Gotcha. I must not have gotten that memo. Thanks 😊 my last store it was still doing it and then when I switched it stopped. I just assumed they did it at the end of day versus drawer changes
LonestarLeo-10 points2y ago
Y’all expect to get tips at Starbucks?
LatterRooster10 points2y ago
Absolutely, I guess we could just throw your drink at ya out the window (had this done at other fast food places) and not worry about making the foam right, that extra Carmel drizzle we don’t upcharge at the window, specially brewing your 90 yo grandma a single cup of decaf during peak or any of the other freshness standards we constantly check and re-check to make our customers have a good experience and a great morning! Even if it’s 50 cents it absolutely matters.

I see you work for uber eats. You expect to get tipped? Doesn't your job pay you enough for the work you do? No? Then stfu and stay in your lane because we're asked to do the work of 3 people for a meer 10$ an hour all while being expected to have low drive thru times and high customer connection scores.
LonestarLeo-3 points2y ago
You’re not providing a service beyond the food you pay for. Servers and delivery do. Specifically delivery there are personal costs to actually deliver that you aren’t compensated for. Tipping Starbucks is no different then if I tipped McDonalds or any other fast food.
sicdope1 points2y ago
lmao we literally have to do so much more then just give people their food or drinks
imagine thinking people shouldnt get paid for their emotional and physical labor
LonestarLeo1 points2y ago
Every single retail/fast food related job does more then the face value of their respected jobs. Your statement applies to someone that works at McDonalds too. They don’t just put your food in a bag and give it to you, there’s cleaning, inventory, machine upkeep, prep and more. If your hourly wage was that of a server which is like what $3.00 an hour then tipping would be much more reasonable but it’s not. At the very least the federal minimum of what 7.25, 7.50? Which I doubt you guys take in depending on your state it’s far more (yes cost of living is higher). So I stand by my statement just because your drinks cost slightly more doesn’t mean your responsibilities and expectation are any different then any other fast food worker. Your solution to your dissatisfaction is push the cost on the customer (which your employer would prefer) instead of demanding more from your company and just accepting it when they say no.
