Are people licking boots for Starbucks brainwashed or insane? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Fast-Tower151
So many stories on here of assault, battery, and all types of illegal behavior from customers. And that's before covid! Now these unvaccinated people (I am a libertarian, but even I have limits) can get in your personal space and be rude and aggressive all over again!

As someone who *completely* agrees with you, some people just can’t leave, man. Often times Starbucks is one of the best paying jobs in an area. That or they’re using the ASU benefits or need the health insurance.

You can have an alternative perspective and not be a bootlicker.

I have not once observed or been the subject of abuse or assault at work, nor have I heard of anyone I’m my district experiencing this. I get the occasional rude customer but even that’s not that big of a deal or that often. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen or that those here who write about it are lying, I’m just saying that’s been MY experience and MY experience informs MY opinions. So, for me, the job is often hard and can be stressful, but is generally fun and a good job that I enjoy. Am I a bootlicker because that’s my experience?

I totally agree with you! I'm so afraid to say this on this sub because I'm scared that it'll seem like I'm downplaying other people's bad experiences or that I'm a brainwashed bootlicker. I try to focus on the positive aspects of where I work, and yeah there have been absolutely crazy, even criminal, customers come into my store, but I've got a great boss, great benefits, some cool partners, and I really do enjoy making drinks.

I feel like no matter how I answer this I will be attacked. So let me put it this way. Starbucks is a business and they exist to make money and they will make the most profitable decisions. That being said CDC guidelines state that vaccinated people do not need masks anymore and the vaccine is extremely effective to the point of which it would take an act of god almost to die from covid after being vacced. Therefore as a barista if you have a mask and you are vacced, your chances of getting covid are almost 0. So yeah be angry at non vaccinated people for not masking, but you cant be mad at people who have been vacced who decide not to wear a mask when that is literally the point of getting vacced. How do you even know if someone is not vacced to accuse them btw? Plus only non vacced people are at risk really not you.

It's not the vaccine that's the center focus. It's people assaulting bariastas and getting away with it, even before covid we had aggressive and psychotic customers. Covid made it worse and now there's a risk of disease.

I worked for Starbucks for 15 years and then a coffee break. I’ve not only seen customers be horrible but also managers prey on baristas. I’ve called compliance only for nothing to be done and the manager always found out and held it against me. I want to do something about it but I think if I tried, something bad could happen.

I think the point made is that we have a shitty frontline job with shitty aggressive customers (I’ve been attacked twice, pissed on and threatened innumerable times) and Starbucks is just going to go right back to letting that happen and not address it.

For people who came in after Covid and don’t know what it’s like to have an open store are in for a real surprise.

I'm sorry what? You got pissed on???

Yarp. Couple of years ago. I’m not mad at the guy, he was schizophrenic as fuck all; but it’s a thing that happened working at Starbucks lol.

Wouldn’t this go down when people are allowed to not wear a mask
Fast-Tower151 [OP] 3 points 2y ago
the assault and battery will go down?
