1. The canadian dollar’s value is substancially lower than the USD, so even if our minimum wage is more “dollars per hour”, when converted to USD it’s roughly the same, so I’m super disappointed in the 5% wage increase we got when the US partners all got 11% (even in the states with a 15USD minimum wage, which is 18CAD).
2. We dont get a free food item ever.
I just wanted to share how bummed I am about these things, cuz why cant we just get equal conditions??

There really is no reason for how the Canadian partners are treated and there’s a lot of favoritism to American partners it seems.

I’m just so sick of being told “well you already have it so much better than other student job conditions around you”. I know things could be worse, I’m just sayings thing could (and should) also be BETTER. I asked if it had anything to do with sales, no answer EVER.
I’m striving for greatness in my shifts and in my tasks, and I’m asking for the higher ups to strive for greatness for partner conditions.

But we really don’t have it better, like Starbucks Canada is the worse company in my area at least to work for, constant breaking local laws, and treating employees like shit. No one has any of the stuff they offer that “makes it good” to work for the company because no one has the hours.

I actually brought this up with two different district managers (we just had a switch) and neither of them were able to really explain the justification to me
They just kept saying “look we’re doing our best” and nobody could tell me why the best in canada was so far from the best just south of the border..
I would be happy to listen to the justification, but for almost a year now, I have been asking around and nobody has been able to provide a real answer..
