Fellow baristas, have you or any of your coworkers experienced hairline fractures due to work? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Asking more because I wanna know if it's even possible let alone common. I read hairline fractures happen mostly to athletes but can they happen to people working jobs like ours, too? I literally ONLY go to work and then go home. Like that's all I do. I've made a doctor's appointment to hopefully rule out a fracture of some kind but still, I wanna know what other baristas experience.

I think we need more info, where is your pain/fracture? What position do you do most at work, how many hours a week do you work?

I have pain in my right foot and/or ankle often when I'm at work and I notice it mostly when I'm CS. If I'm in a planted position I don't think the pain flares up. I work about 25-30 hours a week and I work 5 days in a row and 2 days in a row off. I already made a doctor's appointment to have it checked out but I was just curious if that is an injury that can happen despite not being an athlete.

Not a doctor but I have been to the ortho for foot pain and sure you may have a fracture, but everyone handles their injuries differently. I can’t be in a standing position and rather run around on cs. I need surgery but can’t be off my feet for 6 weeks recovery time.

I actually just went to a foot doctor last week. I have a hairline fracture in my foot. It’s because I work on my feet so much and my shoes aren’t good according to him. So once I come outta this boot, new shoes with more support is what he suggested to prevent it

Woke up this morning with sciatica. It's been forming ever since I started at Starbucks, with all the bending over to get in fridges. Doc thinks I might have even mildly herniated a disk as well.
