feeling discouraged (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ReReKa89
I am now just getting the hang of ringing in drinks on the register. My trainer seemed frustrated with me and did not give me the time to try to look for the buttons myself then slammed her finger on the register and then I saw them talk to others in the back flipping out and then flipped out at my general manager, I just felt negative energy towards me, and I am trying not to think about it every day I come in. I asked them what can I do so I can remember drinks when I start to become a barista they said the app. but this girl showed me this book. I felt like they did not want to each me because the longer I have time to look at the material the better chances I have of remembering it personally.

Sorry to say it, but it sounds like you’ve been paired up with someone who shouldn’t be a Barista Trainer. I’d suggest looking at the drink recipe cards, and/or the drink recipes on the store iPad under Store Resources. Ask a more helpful partner in your store, and I’m sure they’ll help you locate them.

Thank you I thought about quitting but I need this job because I want to propose to my boyfriend soon and this is the money for that. I’m trying to not be discouraged 👍 thank you

i felt this way a few days ago when i started to work on the register too. i just started recently and it sounds like you have a bad trainer. don’t ever blame yourself for not finding the buttons, it’s going to be confusing at first but you’ll get it!

Honestly I’m glad I’m not the only one and I am so sorry you feel like this too I don’t think anyone should feel This way either I feel like everyone learns differently and a different pace and I feel like even more so now I feel like businesses are just pressuring everyone to join and learn quicker and the thing is like now businesses are giving you a higher paid to stay 90 days but I was not even promise to hire pay it’s like different institutions are now paying people $1000 if they stay 90 days

I definitely felt like this during my training! I will say, it does get better. They definitely shouldn’t be getting frustrated with you. My trainer got frustrated and told me that I didn’t care, even though I was just super anxious. Just try to persevere and if it stays that way, then just try looking for other jobs (this definitely isn’t worth your mental health)

So *UPDATE* yesterday I had a situation... with one of the supervisors. I was stuck in drive thru for almost two hours straight. And I went up to them and said “I cannot hold my pee anymore” and then they let me go to the bathroom” but then took me in the back afterwards and told me how I talked “unprofessionally” by saying “I can’t hold my pee” then sent me back in drive thru. Then sent me back on my 10 minute break. Now I’m from a family that we just say things just out in the open. And she flipped out at me but in my opinion when my supervisor gets frustrated she slams things like where you get the ice... so how am I being “unprofessional?”
