*Our drive thru times looking good but our connection score dropping*

My SM: hey guys our customer connection score is dropping. Do you know why this is happening? One of the questions on the survey is "did the barista take the time to get to know me"? So please try to connect with the customers.

Our whole team: low drive thru times or high customer connection score? Pick one.

“Did the barista get time to know me” yeah I heard their entire life story but the person behind them wasnt a fan 😂.

Me:But wha... what about costumer conne...

SM: You are fired.

Yeah, no one cares about the drive times as a partner because baristas see literally no benefit from working faster and harder so Karen can get her 12 lattes for the office. Shifts should realize this too. You’re making the shareholders super happy! 🙃
golden_pinky 34 points 2y ago
I'm like for what so YOU can get bonuses and make the shareholders happy? How does that affect me?

What I don’t get is putting a new partner on bar and having me solo dt, then ask “why are our window times so bad” well it’s because I’m waiting 10+ minutes for drinks
temporarynothings 18 points 2y ago
exactly !! doesn’t help that my store isn’t training like they should be. we had many seasoned baristas when i started, but all of them have left so its newbies training newbies. we also aren’t told what we can do to be faster on bar/window, except “come on guys we have to get these times down THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE” like yeah but?? what do we do to achieve that when we practically have peak from open to 4pm 💀
froppylol 4 points 2y ago
like at least give me some practice bar time sheesh
froppylol 9 points 2y ago
this literally happened to me. i’ve been working for less than a month and have had NO experience on bar and one day i came in the for the shift and was told i was gonna be on cold bar all day???? and then my ssv was confused on why i was taking so long
Alternative-Pay4596 5 points 2y ago
literally omgg they put me on drive bar and i’ve been there a little over a month my whole heart dropped
keithct6 6 points 2y ago
omg this. like either properly staff with mostly experienced partners or we gon wait some more
t3llm3m0re 9 points 2y ago
Fr. Or just put experienced partners in positions that require more speed
keithct6 7 points 2y ago
yeah true. like keep the bar training for off peak plz
dthomp0806 3 points 2y ago
My sm asked me once why the times were high. I just pointed to the slow ass bar partners. Don't put shitty or new partners on bar of you want good times.

At my store it’s kinda fun trying to reach our goal with drive times. Then again our SM is pretty great and doesn’t put too much pressure on us and actually staffs us well enough to be able to get good drive times.

Edited a typo
BaristazGonnaBarist 3 points 2y ago
Us too! We got a 39 today and SM was in the think of it, right along with us!!
medusas-garden 2 points 2y ago
Damn that’s amazing! We shoot for under 53 on week days and under 65 on weekends. Anything under 50 for us is cause for celebration. Y’all must have been chucking drinks out the window lol
BaristazGonnaBarist 2 points 2y ago
Our district goal for peak is 45 on weekdays & 55 on weekends. We are in far NE IL. No customers wore their drinks today, either 🤣
guachummus 1 points 2y ago
Really?? My store shoots for under 35 during the week and under 40 on weekends. I’ve successfully posted in the 20s a handful of times 😳
-zombie-squirrel 1 points 2y ago
That sounds inhumanly fast 😳
medusas-garden 1 points 2y ago
I just....how? Anything under 40 is unfathomable. We pull like $60k weeks and sometimes weekends can be $10k days. We’re busier than we were this past holiday season rn
ashley-leigh 3 points 2y ago
Can I transfer to your store?! Your SM sounds great already
colonade17 10 points 2y ago
The thing is baristas and supervisors have no incentive to get better window times, and if we start going too fast we get yelled at for not making good customer connections.
Cooch_2119 3 points 2y ago
My supervisors sure act like they benefit. So tired of getting customer connections and store vision shoved down my throat like it doesn’t just be if it corporate and no one else
colonade17 6 points 2y ago
A supervisor only really benefits if they're trying to impress their DM because they want a promotion.
Month_Puzzleheaded 7 points 2y ago
That would be me and that’s why I don’t get put on window lol
softneedle 1 points 2y ago
We were at a 52 yesterday with a green bean on DTR. My SM asked (on the floor, in front of everyone) why are drive thru times were “SO terrible,” and without skipping a beat said the energy was super low and no wonder our connection scores sucked too. I hate it here
