Fresh Green Bean, just hired today. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi there! Newbie who just got some good news today. I’m super duper excited, I’ve always wanted to work at Starbucks if the opportunity arose.

However, I have absolutely zero barista experience but about 5 years of bartending experience. (One bar was massive and I made over 500+ drinks an hour on a busy night) So I’m hoping I’ll be able to pick up on it, since I do enjoy the busy pace.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what to expect, what I should prepare for, and things like that!

If your store is normal and follows training protocols, you’ll essentially just follow around a trainer for your first week-ish, watching online modules, and doing live practices supervised by your trainer, stepping in when necessary. honestly don’t worry about anything, no one expects you to pick it up right away, your team will be there to help you with everything, making mistakes is very normal (I made my first mistake 5 minutes into my first shift). and lastly, good luck!

Just had my second shift yesterday, you will be fine! Everyone at my store is lovely, if I make a mistake they correct me in a polite way and it's even funny sometimes, because you can always make the drink again.

You will have someone training you and watching over you, it's a lot to take in at first but you slowly learn how your store will operate. I got put on bar with a more experienced barista supporting me, picking up the extra drinks if things got hectic and teaching me how to sequence properly (milk off, milk on, que shots then syrups).

There is a lot to learn however ask questions if you don't know something, somebody will show you how and be there to support :)
