We got a rat!- Store mask policies are a mess and nearly impossible to enforce (cnn.com)

He's right. This week has been impossible for my store.

My DM came in to talk to the SSVs about it, and basically told us to stop enforcing the state's mask mandate. He said "it's not worth making an incident out of it". And when one of our SSVs said it was to protect our partners from getting covid the DM just repeated company talking points and didn't actually explain why she was wrong.

We have a similar situation but it’s a city mandate.

just so you know, a "rat" is usually used in a negative context, I thought this was going to be a bad thing lol

Also, a lot of articles and journos will just pull comments/statements from Reddit without actually speaking to the OP. I had a handful of my comments put into articles and have never had any journos reach out to me.

But it's good that this article is out there, even if it is just repeating the same stuff a bunch of retail workers already know. Hopefully it reaches people who might not understand retail employees' viewpoints.

And also, he did reach out and talk to the partner to the partner, because it’s me.

I wasn't refuting the article specifically, just stating that it happens a lot! I'm honestly always a little bit suspicious of stuff in the mainstream media.

Glad that you're happy they represented you accurately! Those articles I found my comments in, they literally had my words typed up for them and they still reworded my statements lmao

Oh I know. It was in a joking sense. Because you know that’s how Starbucks feels about it lol.

Yep, "no talking to media yourself, you have to direct them to corporate" lmfao it's literally a Starbucks policy which is why employees are so insistent on hiding their identity if they do speak to a journo!

Wouldn't want someone to say the wrong thing, ey? Can't risk news getting out that loads of employees are unhappy, kek

But really, big ups to this guy for actually talking to the workers and not just taking the company line.
