I had gone to bed after working a Christmas Eve-eve shift at a local mall once, only to keep waking up in a sweat every 20 minutes to the latent repeated awareness that the Frappuccinos were not going to stop coming. The year was 2007, more than a decade before the Unicorn Frappuccino, Refreshers, Vanilla Sweet Cream Foam or the essential business catastrophe shortages of 2020.
Some baristas can holler out that they’re running low... Others carry four gallons of milk in one trip. Some baristas can leave a splash of Stawberry Acai on the counter... Others wring out a sani-towel every two minutes to completely wipe down the CBS. Some baristas realize that they make cute beverages while others feel the weight of industrial complex on their shoulders.
I spent way too much time composing this. Bye!

Exactly my thoughts. My first SM was a very aggressive person and I would wake in the middle of the night with invasive, repetitions of drink recipes. I got hired around the holidays and didn't learn to bar until spring because our store was so scary.

Please keep the positive vibes coming. Today was hard AF. Didn’t open until I got in at 530 and the line was already there... and Mobile’s non stop(we open at5 and openers get in at430). The people who didn’t show up had their reasons but I don’t wanna feel like that again: I almost quit and realized that my family needs the extra couple hundred a month to pay the bills... especially since my Medical insurance was denied due to making 15 dollars over with my husbands income! 🤦🏻♀️
It would have been fine had my manager not come in and start taking orders when I’m over at the window And making another drink on cold bar... no, I didn’t hear any of that! It’s not faster it’s a sloppy mess.
On the other side of the coin; tips were great and customers were amazing!
