I don't know the rest of the conversation (plus just because someone is a higher up they shouldn't be rude) but, I will say as a former Shift, if someone asks "do you like morning or night shift better?" It's typically because there is a need for scheduling and they're trying to get someone to fill in a spot. I always personally said that I didn't care (since I really didn't) and would do a turn around or double often, which was a horrible answer.

Asking if you like morning or night is a stupid reason to get mad.

That sounds like just some casual conversation

Tbh, go to your manager and tell them the supervisor is making you feel uncomfortable. Whatever issues you have with them will end instantly.

I was also asked if I like morning or nights better. At the time I said nights bc they’re considerably less busy and we had a cool night crew, and I was scheduled outside of my availability for weeks. So definitely be careful what you say bc they like to twist your words into “I like nights ONLY” and that’s all you’ll ever work 😅
