Literally had a lady tell me that the Sprouts in the plaza across from my store had oatmilk. And when I responded that Starbucks used a specific vendor for oatmilk she had the audacity to passive aggressively say “I’m just saying you can easily get some”.

I wish I remembered the soy milk shortage in January where we bought soy milk from a grocery store just so I could’ve seen her face when I fired back “last time we did that people complained about the taste and wanted refunds”. But I just gave her her drink and bit my tongue because how I responded in my head would have definitely gotten me fired if I said it out loud.

There has been many obstacles ATM with supplies. There the Sue canal, shortage supplies to warehouse and shortage of truck drivers and the gas pipeline incedent.

Ikr they really think we get paid enough to be spiteful

It's so good too. I've never seen them be out macadamia milk or oat milk at Costco.

Customers have complained to me before about extended outages (though most were very understanding, even when the lack of stuff we had was truly embarrassing) and I've more or less explained that to them.

While the truthfulness of the statement is debatable, "Starbucks' top priority is the safety and security of our employees and customers. To keep our distribution centre staff safe and to comply with provincial health orders, staffing is sometimes reduced which impacts the ability to complete whole shipments." usually made people just say "oh, okay" and order something else. No one seemed to want to argue with me about keeping staff safe, but who knows, maybe that's just a Canadian thing.

I think it also probably helps that you can still "see" the pandemic up here. Masks are the law, plexiglass is often part of a business' Covid Safety Plan which they are legally bound to follow, etc.

That's so dumb! I mean, if I was gonna lie about being out of something so I don't have to make a drink, why would I pick oatmilk? I'd say vanilla sweet cream so I don't have to make foam for every other drink!

We had a truckers strike last year. We were out of pretty much everything but brewed coffee. We even put up a sign on the DT sign and the front window "Due to a supply issue we are out of most of our popular items" (I wanted to add "and stand in solidarity with our fellow workers" but was shot down)... people STILL asked why we were out!!

but they’re not children, it’s common sense. if something is out, it’s just OUT. there’s no ulterior motive and no reason to blame the ppl that barely get paid enough anyway.
