Y'all apparently we (THE BARISTAS) have the ulterior motive and we (THE BARISTAS) are purposely not stocking oatmilk to be spiteful ☺️☺️☺️😡😡😡(i.redd.it)

You know where I've seen oatmilk? The grocery store. Congratulations, you now have the tools to solve your problem.
Barl_Carker91 points2y ago
Literally had a lady tell me that the Sprouts in the plaza across from my store had oatmilk. And when I responded that Starbucks used a specific vendor for oatmilk she had the audacity to passive aggressively say “I’m just saying you can easily get some”.
I wish I remembered the soy milk shortage in January where we bought soy milk from a grocery store just so I could’ve seen her face when I fired back “last time we did that people complained about the taste and wanted refunds”. But I just gave her her drink and bit my tongue because how I responded in my head would have definitely gotten me fired if I said it out loud.
SaevioAvis79 points2y ago
Fun fact, the barista oat milk we get from Starbucks actually has a higher fat content than most grocery store oat milks. It’s supposed to help with steaming I guess? So going to the grocery to get the oat milk wouldn’t even be the same oat milk, like you were saying. Inconsistency in drinks that I’m sure most would notice.
tang0foxtr0t22 points2y ago
the barista edition oat milk is sold in stores though
blobinsky33 points2y ago
you actually aren’t allowed to use the oatly barista edition that’s sold in stores if you run out, it’s against standards bc they’re different than the ones we use. we have it at my target location as well and can’t take it from the sales floor
SaevioAvis8 points2y ago
Perhaps just not in my location then. Our grocery stores can barely keep it in stock as well
vietlazed5 points2y ago
There has been many obstacles ATM with supplies. There the Sue canal, shortage supplies to warehouse and shortage of truck drivers and the gas pipeline incedent.
chipqueen2532152 points2y ago
some people really have the nerve😂
Adventurous_Board933 [OP]117 points2y ago
Ikr they really think we get paid enough to be spiteful
chipqueen253219 points2y ago
for real😂😂😂🤷🏼♀️
sneaky_capybara16 points2y ago
i think it’s the other way. they probably think we’re more underpaid than we actually are, and that’s our ulterior motive

I walked past a huge mid-aisle pallet of oat milk at Costco, tall as me. They could buy it, enjoy it at home and save $
adorkablysporktastic26 points2y ago
It's so good too. I've never seen them be out macadamia milk or oat milk at Costco.
goldfishmuncher2 points2y ago
macadamia milk is the best non-dairy milk too no question
adorkablysporktastic1 points2y ago
Oatmilk is seriously my favorite. Mostly because it's more sustainable. Also because I can make it at home if i forget to buy it.
But when im feeling extra bougie i get mac milk.
0101059688 points2y ago
what the actual fuck. "can we ask the REAL REASON" the real reason would be that there are global distribution and supply chain issues. not everything revolves around you and we still in a worldwide pandemic even though you in LA dont realize that anymore
Silly_Goose219 points2y ago
Customers have complained to me before about extended outages (though most were very understanding, even when the lack of stuff we had was truly embarrassing) and I've more or less explained that to them.
While the truthfulness of the statement is debatable, "Starbucks' top priority is the safety and security of our employees and customers. To keep our distribution centre staff safe and to comply with provincial health orders, staffing is sometimes reduced which impacts the ability to complete whole shipments." usually made people just say "oh, okay" and order something else. No one seemed to want to argue with me about keeping staff safe, but who knows, maybe that's just a Canadian thing.
I think it also probably helps that you can still "see" the pandemic up here. Masks are the law, plexiglass is often part of a business' Covid Safety Plan which they are legally bound to follow, etc.
universaldisaster31 points2y ago
Yes because we want to deal with people like you questioning us about it every day and claiming we’re hiding something every day 🙄
CriticalSheep27 points2y ago
That group is so fucking stupid. So glad I left a few weeks back when they did a massive purge of any and all baristas because two or three were trolling the group. So they blocked thousands of people and put a weed out question in their group where if you were or are a barista you were disqualified from joining. They even went so far as to report a shitload of baristas to corporate for various reasons, including calling people in the group out on their hateful speech toward baristas.
FfierceLaw21 points2y ago
Wait - it’s a fan group about Starbucks that doesn’t want baristas around?
CriticalSheep17 points2y ago
Yup. They spend so much time bashing baristas and the mods just don’t care. Especially since the whole drama went down a couple weeks ago. Baristas were definitely at fault (they doxxed a mod and got her Facebook thanosed) but they named every baristas persona non grata.
DeepFriedJoseph4 points2y ago
People who consider being a barista take note of this because people really Target us despite us being paid like absolutely nothing. talk about people with no life.
moon_light5239 points2y ago
Oh wtf that’s so messed up, what are peoples issues??? Like, I don’t understand why they’d care that much and put someone’s job on the line over a Facebook group
lightofyourlifehere26 points2y ago
Wtf is wrong with people... how can they be so dumb? Do they really think we enjoy having to deny costumers oat milk? This is not a fun convo for us either!
gemapeca9820 points2y ago
i personally like telling customers we are out of something but i also personally like oat milk so 🥲
Silly_Goose217 points2y ago
I always found it a little bit funny telling a customer they couldn't have a pastry while knowing I have one of that exact item in my backpack from the discard pile the day before.
bryceofswadia25 points2y ago
Yes, Starbucks is intentionally not restocking a very popular product that makes them a shit ton of money.
CriticalSheep16 points2y ago
She added to it:
>Edit: I'm very patient, and never rude to staff so no need to tell me over and over . And thanks for those who legitimately answered my questions and had a good response, like the warehouse shortage and Oatly warehouse shortage . I'm not the one being rude at Starbucks and I'm sorry for those who are . > >Geez I don't even want to ask anymore questions in here again.
Adventurous_Board933 [OP]18 points2y ago
Omg 🙄🙄 sensitive kelly
CriticalSheep20 points2y ago
I hope someone commented "You ask a stupid question, you get a stupid answer" because seriously? Does she think we enjoy being out of things? Or does she think we're hoarding all the oatmilk for ourselves? My store hasn't seen oat milk for almost a month. On the random chance we got it shortly after launch it would be one case and it'd be gone in a day.
Accomplished_Entry183 points2y ago
I actually did enjoy being out of stuff at our store because people were more inclined to leave. This is how I knew it was time for me to quit😂
zombiecabbage3 points2y ago
“Thanks for those who legitimately answered my question and had a good response like the warehouse shortage.” — I’m sure her local barista has gone over this with her MANY times but ok 🙄
CriticalSheep1 points2y ago
She clearly needed to hear it from her own kind, that's why she took to a group full of Karens to get the 'correct' answer, even if the correct answers came from baristas, whom we know ALWAYS LIE TO THE CUSTOMER TO GET JOY OUT OF OUR PITIFUL LIVES.
HollowRibcage12 points2y ago
Of course it would be under a “secret recipes” group or page.
Js_On_My_Yeet11 points2y ago
Omg I really wanna tell this bitch off lol
Edit: Need to add more cuz reading this got me heated
Somebody tell this stupid bitch we don't control the fucking shipment and production of oatmilk. We only make the drinks. If she ever worked a retail/fast food job in her life she wouldn't be making ignorant comments and accusations. Don't fucking politicize coffee the same way Covid was. That's absolutely banobo mentality.
PumpKiing8 points2y ago
Well they're half right -
In my store at least, it is NOT because we're not stocking it - we're just drinking it all ourselves and depleting it faster. Everyone markouts are oatmilk drinks. 😂
sci-fi-lullaby7 points2y ago
I just want Becky to be miserable TBH, the lack of oat milk in her petty, plastic existance makes my innards warm and fuzzy. 🙄
SupaAwsm7 points2y ago
I got really sick of customers thinking I had literally anything to do with Starbucks policy. If I did, I'd have to be paid a hell of a lot more and would not be putting up with their bullshit.
MintyMint1236 points2y ago
Sorry y’all gotta find out like this, but the great oat cow died so no more milk.
Ashesremindme4 points2y ago
Haha, it would be so funny to tell people this. "Yeah, sorry, our oat cow died and we're trying to get a new one but its a process. Our soy cow is doing really well though; want some of that?" 😂😂
tamaotaki_015 points2y ago
I deeply apologize for my actions, it has been me, single handedly, drinking all the countries oat milk. One cup, one neighborhood at a time. I had to come clean 😓
Professor_Sqi5 points2y ago
Nah we out cus we're sick of you all not caring about that delicious cow juice that was lovingly produced. We the little people with no decision making power on stock did that
isolated-grace5 points2y ago
I was a borrowed partner at a store over the past week and a store I worked at had over 100 units of oat milk. I was livid when I saw it.
farblondjet4 points2y ago
If that were the case then why stop there 😅
goldfishmuncher3 points2y ago
order the amount of shots you'd like and any syrups or flavors. at the window ask for an empty cup whatever size you want. at literally any grocery store they have oatmilk. do the rest at home and add ice
MrDrProfessorBalls3 points2y ago
“ulterior motive”... yall they busted me, its been me the whole time. i got a whole kiddie pool in the backroom we just keep refilling it with all the oatmilk supplies, im chugging it by the gallon so fast the distribution center just straight up didnt know what to do. this is on me yall. my bad
blehe383 points2y ago
i'd love to live in this magical fantasy world they've made up where everyone in a customer-facing position has literally any say in what happens at their store let alone the company as a whole. it's right up there with the magical fantasy world where customer service workers actually have any real incentive to upsell (i.e. commission) instead of convoluted threats to their job/livelihood.
Frequent_Flamingo_423 points2y ago
It's not like oatly didn't say anything, they post their political agenda to take over the entire alternative milk industry on the box and to slowly take over all starbucks.
(This is a joke, plz dont take this seriously)
(Also, have you really read the boxes while stocking cause they're hilarious)
Polojayy3 points2y ago
"let's be real here" lady if we keeping it real YOURE the reason not us. they come take all the milk then wonders where it went🤦🏾♂️
madamesoybean3 points2y ago
Are they really starting a conspiracy theory over full fat Oatly? 🤦🏻♀️ Did they forget there's a pandemic & distribution issue bc 3.5 million people have lost their lives?
smoolbeean3 points2y ago
my store is out of a lot and and ive had a few customers ask me are you actually out or do you just not want to make my drink. 🙄
FishieSmalls3 points2y ago
Both
Ashesremindme1 points2y ago
That's so dumb! I mean, if I was gonna lie about being out of something so I don't have to make a drink, why would I pick oatmilk? I'd say vanilla sweet cream so I don't have to make foam for every other drink!
finzablazin3 points2y ago
We get stocked from a supplier based in Texas while we’re in a different state. This winter when Texas froze and had mass power outages we were short on a lot of things. We tried explaining this to people who pushed the issue and a lot of people just couldn’t put together why an issue in Texas would affect us. We gave up trying to explain.
zzid2d212 points2y ago
We had a truckers strike last year. We were out of pretty much everything but brewed coffee. We even put up a sign on the DT sign and the front window "Due to a supply issue we are out of most of our popular items" (I wanted to add "and stand in solidarity with our fellow workers" but was shot down)... people STILL asked why we were out!!
Watercolor-sun3 points2y ago
They said “my town in LA” like LA wouldn’t be one of the main places the shortages were bad in
b0rrowers3 points2y ago
it's fucking LA of course they'd be out of oatmilk 😭⁉️
katnip0942 points2y ago
Not my coworkers bringing in their own oatmilk for their drinks 🤣🤣
SyerenGM2 points2y ago
Cant say I care about a secret recipes group. Honestly though, if I could not stock things in spite, it would be ingredients that have to do with fraps.
dswalz2 points2y ago
See, at our store, when we run out of oat milk we just make it. But we ain’t Starbies so we know how and can.
XxTRUEPINOYxX2 points2y ago
Wait we out again? 🥺
Saradigm2 points2y ago
Lol we have no control over our supply and if they think it’s because we don’t want to go to the back for it then how big do they think these stores are
ObnoxiousR2 points2y ago
Yeah like our manager will allow us to waste potential sales. Ok.
JunipherStar1 points2y ago
Why do customers think us “lowly” baristas have any control over stuff like this
Snarkybratt1 points2y ago
WOW! This idiot’s post exemplifies ‘first-world problems’ better than anything I’ve seen in AGES!....OH, the hubris! (-‸ლ) Facepalm!
designated-grapes1 points2y ago
SORRY KAREN, WEVE BEEN SLACKING OFF ON THE MILKING OF OAT TIDDIES!!! WE'LL GET RIGHT BACK TO IT!
philosopher_cat_lady1 points2y ago
The world revolves around the pretty white lady
randomhoe9991 points2y ago
I don’t think she was completely eating Starbucks lies to the customer a lot like saying we are under maintenance when there’s a Covid outbreak
randomhoe9991 points2y ago
I mean I guess they’re right one of the manufacturing places got a massive Covid outbreak

The customers don't know any better, cut them some slack. We already know that every new product launch is ill-considered and under resourced and that fact is for the customer to find out for themselves. SB is the only food service chain I've worked for but as a customer of other chains, I've never experienced the problems we always face with suppliers.
trxnkxtty2 points2y ago
but they’re not children, it’s common sense. if something is out, it’s just OUT. there’s no ulterior motive and no reason to blame the ppl that barely get paid enough anyway.
